Hi,

New to this, so please understand if i've done it all wrong!!

We bought a six month old Aygo petrol about a week ago, and was wondering if these two things are standard or should I take it back to the dealer, could anybody let me know if they have any freeplay on the top of the clutch pedal (approx 2 inches), and also when fully warmed up, when idling is it normal to feel as if it's going to cut out (slow idle speed) and a bit lumpy.

Many Thanks

Paul

Assuming that by "freeplay" you mean the first two inches feeling a lot lighter than the rest of the pedal, then yes I have that too. As for the other, can't say I've noticed that...

Ah,

Least the clutch must be normal then, thanks for that

I have the same thing with the gas pedal also. First inch or so doesn't really do anything. Makes it much easier to pull away without over-revving once you're used to it imo.

As for feeling like it's going to stall, I don't get that.

yea the clutch is abit weird on the aygo. My engine also does that thing where it feels like its about the stall but it never has so, its seems to drop a few revs and then come back in.

starting to realise that the Aygo really isnt that good of a car.

I suppose it's easier to tell with the Aygo Sport, having the rev counter, maybe the car's just awful at dealing with cold weather?

Just noticed your signature; this "allmost stalling" you describe,

at what volume do you have your ICE when this happens???

So our Aygo just sounds and acts "normal" for one of these cars then, must be the three cyl engine characteristics. ;)

Jan's point is quite valid. Maybe the drain in current from the extra power being drawn from the amp at higher volumes is causing the electronic ignition to experience a dip in power causing an "almost stalling" effect??

Not sure why you think this! Considering the cost and its competitors, I think the Aygo is pretty terrific. It is not a performance car but more of a city car. It is nippy, very compact and yet roomy for 4 people. It would not be my first choice for a long journey or for a track day, but for shooting into Newcastle, it is practically perfect.

Must agree with above, only had the car for a short time, but it does what it is designed for-great on petrol!!

I think my Aygo is GREAT!

You DO have to compare it to other cars in the same class / pricebracket...

It's a Supermini / Citymini, you can't compare those

to a lower middleclass hatchback or coupé...

I had a Nissan 100NX before the Aygo and a Ford Escort Diesel

before that, both secondhand and the Aygo surely beats both

of them in economics and is WAY better in the city.

OK, my 100NX handled better, but it also drank a LOT more,

allmost TWICE as thirsty. And the Escort had a bigger boot.

But my Aygo has 4 doors, which neither of the others had.

Some things can be annoying, like the lack of a switch for

the courtesylight on the other doors, I'll give you that.

But that can be fixed. My Escort didn't have central locking

or Power Windows, so I put some in myself.

As for fun to drive I'd give my 100NX a 9 out of 10,

the Aygo gets a 8,5 and the Escort only a 6,5.

And the DeLorean I had gets a 10+ :P

You just have to make an HONEST comparison.

Compared to a VW Fox I think an Aygo is better,

as it has more features for less money AND is

less thirsty, weighs less and looks cuter...

But that's just my opinion...

Yes am afraid I have to Agree to I love my Aygo although this is my first car so I dont have a lot to compare to I have driven other cars and wont even step into my other halfs rover 25 cos Ijust dont like the drive in comparison, and the other week I decided I wanted to play with something with a larger engine to do a long run with so I got in my mums 1.4 citreon (Sp?) zsara took it round the block and put it back again and got back in my aygo as it was orrible. I dont understand when people complain about the small boot on the Aygo too, surely you would have noticed it before you bought it, to me its thats like buying a motobike then complaining it had no roof!..lol Anyway I know it aint perfect but still think its a damn good car for its price!
