Just wondering,

what, in your oppinions, is the single most best piece of kit for the Yaris TSPORT to increase HP and overall speed?

how much, how fast?

Thanks

Turbo 40+bhp (thousands of pounds)

Sports cat 5bhp £250

Induction Kit 1bhp £150

Depends how much you want to spend!

well I didnt really want to spend thousands of pounds...

I knew about the ol Turbo, but they a little pricey for now

Sports Cat sounds decent enuf

any advise on them?

can you tell the difference? 0-60 change much? etc

Thanks

turbo or supercharger is the the single better mod to get, but pricey

to get the most out of the car without that, I would suggest the following mods, and maybe most others will aswell. Basically to notice any difference you'd need them all rather than just 1 item.

full exhaust system (manifold, sports cat, mid pipe and backbox) which will cost at least £600-£800 if not more

lightweight crank pulley, £160

induction kit, about £140

Then maybe a lightweight flywheel, £400-£500

De-Cats are cheaper than a sports cat and will produce more bhp.

The crank pulley not increase bhp.

If you ask me do the basics first, air filter and exhaust, then perhaps a chip, either a Emanage or a Dastek one.

Then its looking at stuff like the TTE Supercharger, although if I had one of those I would take it to a supercharger company and get them to fit a smaller pulley :D

I think the standard 0-60 is 8.7/8.9 depending on info source.

My TS has an Envy Induction, Envy decat & centre section & HKS bb.

Since my modz ive bought a G Tech performance metre & im currently running averages of:

0-60: 8.24s

Q mile: 16.6s @ 87.7mph

Power: 121bhp (G Tech reading, upto 3bhp error margin, goin rollers in the new year  )

Although it'll be a liitle inacurate it's still a fairly decent result and a good hike in power!!

Basically ive got alloys, Coilovers, induc kit and backbox.

Handles great and induction roar is nice and nice burble off backbox.

Its hard to get big gains on a relatively small engine which is already highly tuned from the factory.

No point in having loads of power if your car doesnt handle so I would reccomend coilovers first. Expensive but worth every penny and really high quality. TEIN BASIC's £500 (approx)

The best way to make loads of BHP is go on eBay and get one of those 'chip mods' only 5 quid and you can expect upto 50bhp increase :)

lol the one with the chav infront of the mondeo with morretes is the best :P

Decats are illegal tho so if you got one you would need to change it over for MOT and the engine warning light will appear!

I think that your infatuation with "I want more power" is simplifying the whole thing a bit. If you want to do anything but stand around in car parks boasting then what you should be looking for is a rounded balance of power and torque and the way in which they're delivered across the rev range.

Here's an example. My car is a diesel (as you all know) so has a very short rev range which, when the car's standard, appears and ends suddenly. By swapping for a performance air filter I gain maybe 0.25bhp maximum but the difference is that the power band is about 1000rpm longer with a smoother lead in and lead out. It makes the car easier to drive smoothly and gives a better "overtaking window" without having to change gear. So its not about he "power" but rather about improving the engine and tailoring the power delivery to the way you drive.

Not that you'll take the blindest bit of notice though...

But the original question is ridiculous! If you want big power buy a faster car or be prepared to spend big money!

Engine swap from a Yaris Turbo, full exhaust system from manifold with de-cat, cone filter/drop in filter, ITBs, new cams, MBC and a tune, or perhaps a new ECU and get a real good mapping, you should be able to see come closer to 200 bhp, then. Not cheap, though.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Quod erat demonstrandum*

Yeah I agree, very true..

But doesnt answer the original question other than saying " Get a turbo diesel instead "

No it didn't. I merely went to the bother of citing a particular example whereby someone (me) was trying to work out the deficiencies in his vehicle's powertrain rather than masturbating over pictures of Supras and going "wanna go faster, wanna go faster".

Thank you.

Certainly not cheap. Not even too sure you'd get particularly close to 200bhp tbh. Yaris turbo engine's probably less powerful than a standard T-Sport motor with an aftermarket turbo kit (but we'll see ;) ). TZwin charging may be interesting...
