Hi every1 im thinking about getting a k&n typhoon induction kit but doin some research ive noticed that

if you get it from america you pay 199 dollars which is about 100 pounds but if you buy it here you pay 200 pounds which is a big difference if they are both the same.

Im just wonderin if any1 knows if theywould fit just the same?

Theoretically, they are the same car (pretty much). However I don't know for certain, so please don't take my word for it, wait for someone else to pop along with maybe a bit more knowledge on the GTS. Or sign up to the US side of this site, and ask if a US counterpart can measure the inlet on their GTS, see if its the same as yours...?

Also in price don't forget to look at shipping costs, insurance, and import tax. Yeah, it'll probably still be cheaper from the US, but the price vs convinience comparison with everything taken in to account may change your mind...

surely it'll be the same ? they wont have manufactured a different car or different parts for the americans?

To be honest if it was me i'd rather pay a bit more and have the peace of mind i can return it easily and i can have it on the car quicker :D

Well, thats what you'd think. But there ARE differences! IRC, brake configs are different, and the BHP and torque curves are different (US is underpowered compared to UK), and thats only the stuff I remember coming across, there could be loads of little differences...??

Yeah, they have some crazy immissions regulations in some states

This isn't exactly true WHP is more inportant than a theroetical Fly BHP figure. The US spec cars are on par with ours for WHP but are slightly under. But saying that they use different DYNO's than we do also lower rating RON.

As for the induction being cheaper I would buy it from the US or another contry and have it flown over cus prices here are just stupid. Besides would probably arrive quicker from abroad as well depending on what service you go for, fact also the US has a wider range of K&N filters generally much bigger ones that are sold over here.

As for their emmisions yes they are more stringuent over there but depending on state not all states are like california whcih is VERY ANTI CAR more so modded ones. But that K&N induction kit will fit ok over here. It might have a extra nipple on the intake pipe which we don't use and therefore must be blocked up but thats no problem.

Going back to the Hp figures, in countries like Portugal, Finland etc and other euro countries they measure their HP is PS some give figures of 192+ / 200+ ps else KW. But its basically a BS figure, as Wheel Horse Power and Torque are the only thing which counts else Hub horse power and torque. How can anyone get a accurate Flywheel horse power unless the engine is taken out and measured on a test rig. Some times those guessing calculations dont work are only a guestimate. But is seems kinda strange that alot of the VVTLI owners arn't even getting anywhere near to the calculated F-BHP figure at 189bhp so kinda makes you wonder not just Toyota owners but Lotus owners as well.
