Hi to all in group,

I wonder if you can help me. My new car is coming next week. New model T4 Avensis with technology kit. There are no instructions on how to operate the bluetooth connectivity. I see there is a mic on roof to the right of rear view mirror. Also there appears to be a glass mounted antenna, but when i switched on my bluetooth on my Nokia 6230i and searched for the cars bluetooth, it found nothing. My question is, how do you switch on the bluetooth ? Do I need something else ?

Thanks for any help.

When you get the car, the document pack will include a "bluetooth SWC Handbook" (Steering wheel control) It will tell you all you need to know BUT what they dont mention is the importance of selecting the correct language first. If your car has a Female American accent change the language to "English UK" before storing any numbers as the american lady will have problems recognising your UK accent

Good Luck

John

Hi John,

Thanks for the prompt reply !!!

Unfortunately there appears to be no bluetooth SWC Handbook in the vehicle, also there appears to be no extra buttons on the steering wheel, just the mic beside the rear view mirror and the antenna on the windscreen. Maybe it doesn't have all the kit necessary. The invoice says it has the technology kit. What button do you use to set it up ? Disp or mode ?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Press mode for longer than three seconds, the system should say main menu. Say Pair phone, then search using the phone. Passcode is 1234.

By the way the antenna on the window is for the DAB radio, not the car kit. :D

If you need any more info on the bluetooth kit, let me know and I will grab my manual from the car.

I have both the tech pack and protection pack on mine.

As far as I can recall my car has the same buttons on the wheel as the demo car I drove without the tech pack.

It is all speech driven via the mode button. To answer a call you press the up button below the volume + / _ buttons. To reject / end a call you press the down button. It doesn't seem to have a way of ignoring a call, which is the most usefull button I have on my phone :)

To setup the system hold the mode button for long than three seconds and the system responds via a voice. If you say help it will tell you what commands are available. The only ones I have used are "pair Phone" and "Dial number xxxxxxxxxx" once the system reads back the nuber you want to dial you just say dial.

It works really well and understands both mine and my wifes voice with no problems.

You said about the ariel on the winscreen as well. This is for the DAB and it will also have a DAB sticker on the Radio and a DAB sticker added to the AM button. The AM button toggels between AM and DAB.

If you don't end up getting a manual with the car, send me a PM and I will scan it and send you a copy, same goes for the DAB, which I havn't yet mastered.

Actuall scrap that, knew it had to be on the web somewhere, here is the link.

Change the Accessory group to bluetooth Hands-free system and press search.

Download the following Owners Manual..

bluetooth SWC English Czech Hungarian Polish

The buttons look different to the pictures, but it's the same manual as I have.

Hi All,

Just been having a snoop around, I post in the Auris forum, and have been having problems with the handsfree system.

I wasn't aware that I could change to an English Accent. I tried to store a number by saying 'STORE' the daft mare hiding inside the car somewhere repeated ZERO FOUR lol.

Thanks for the info.

Kian
