Tte Stuff

Hello,

I've had a Red 53 plate 1.0L for about a month.

I've already changed the alloys to Mak Cruiser with Toyo T1-R 195/50/15.

Here are a few pictures.

The next mods I'm looking at are the silencer and springs. There's a toyota garage nearby who have the TTE versions. Is there any reason not to get the TTE sports silencer and lowering springs ?

Thanks

welcome to TOC

Nice looking car you have there.

Nothing wrong with the tte items, only problem with springs are they only lower 30mm, which on 15" wheels is not enough and for the price you pay for an extra £20 you can get teins which are much better quality and lower 38mm on the rear and 35mm on the front which gives the car a much better look.

Thanks for the info.

I'll check out the teins but will probably go for the TTE silencer for starters.

Thanks

I've just checked with my local Toyota dealer and the price is £191 inc vat + fitting (around £30). If you have service shield you'll obviously get 10% discount on the part.

Here's the TTE brochure for Yaris parts.

191 quid for a TTE silencer?? DAMN!

Sounded a pretty good deal to me.

I thought the price on the TTE springs (around £135) was pretty good as well.

When I went round to the local Toyota garage, the bloke printed off a parts list and prices available for my particular model. Their part numbers don't match the TTE part numbers but it's reasonably clear from the descriptions which are the TTE items. This parts/price list is only available if you ask your friendly neighbourhood Toyota parts department and get a list specific to your car model.

Hiya :D

Nice looking car you have there, welcome to our club

The TTE springs are made by Eibach and are prob one of the best spring companys in the world,

i had the TTE springs on mine but as has been said already they only lower your car by around 30mm.

I found they were excellent, not too harsh a ride.

I cant really help with the exhaust , but the TTE exhaust on the starlet always gives a nice noise.

Dont worry about the TTE part numbers being different from the dealers, i found that too

Erm... I'll have (Kimi's old ;) ) TTE springs for sale at the end of January if you'd like to save a penny or two

That's a nice looking wee car - good luck with our plans

Thanks for all the responses, guys.

I'll probably get the TTE silencer done and have a think about the springs - may even consider the Tein dampers if funds allow.

  • 2 weeks later...

why do people even buy tte stuff? its such a rip.

you say the springs are made by Eibach - you can buy Eibach branded spring kits for about 100 quid. Mine is lowered 45 on pi springs they were less than 100 quid and are great, theyre a class powder coated red too.

Silencers - there are some available for about 150/160 i think they are remus and sebring and theres probably some other cheaper ones too. I got a universal silencer and me and a mate put it on (you need to cut and weld). Its a stainless steel job and looks the biz and sounds great. Its made by savage exhausts who make universal silencers, only took an hour to fit. These retail for 60 quid, although i got mine half price  even if u cant fit it yourself, a mechanic will only charge you about 20 quid to do it for you, any mechanic could. look up savage exhausts on google, im happy to recommend it its some job.

TTE stuff mainly looks good and subtle enough :) A TTE backbox on eBay for £30 is nice to look at as it's sporty but not OTT. TTE springs bought off someone for £30 would also be a good purchase, same again with the front splitter! Partly you pay for better quality though it is overpriced still and nowhere near some jap aftermarket parts quality! But yeah a TTE front spoiler i think is hard to beat with stuff that is that price new (chav stuff is the equivalent at that price!)

:lol::lol:

i had cheap springs on my old car, and swapped them for Eibach ,

you could tell the difference in quality

At the end of the day you get what you pay for

plus TTE parts are covered under toyota warranty, so when added to your car

you dont lose your warranty ;)

I quite like the TTE stuff myself , you are correct it is a bit over priced but you get what you pay for and it is very god quality and has the advantage of being under toyota warranty !

Are those savage exhausts good , u got a pic ??

Its just a universal backbox, stainless steel, 4 inch straight cut pipe.

When you first look them up on google you may think its a chavvy piece of crap cos some chav sites stock them, but really it is high quality, looks great on the car and sounds really lovely. The note is real nice unlike a lot of pipes and not too loud. Ill take some pics tomorrow, i think it looks real good on the car and for the money you cant beat it. I would advise anyone to go for one.

TTE stuff is ameant to be subtle, your pi springs may have lowered the car more than the TTE's do but around a corner i no which ones i would choose anyday, the TTE would give so much better handling.

That savage backbox your talking about my friend has one on his focus and even he admits it sounds awful(due to bad quality)! Even tho the TTE backbox is subtle it will give alot more of a real and better sounding note than most universal backbox's. If you want a nice sound you have to go custom made or very good quality jap box/system.

If you wanted the best handling you would go for shocks and springs or coileys. You can get Eibach springs for about 30 quid less than the tte ones, and its been said on here that Eibach make the springs for tte. i bought the pi springs cos they were the only ones that lowered enough for me, but she does handle a lot better than standard and theyre good springs. at the end of the day its a 1.0 so it doesnt need world beating suspension, but it needed lowered more than 30mm as im on 15s not 16s or 17s and the pi springs were the lowest. the best springs would be tein but even theyre the same price as tte so theyd probly be a better bet.

On the subject of the exhaust, my savage exhaust seriously does sound good. I got it half price (£30 quid lmao) and i was thinking "ok ill try it and if its crap ill sell it on eBay and buy a remus" but it really does look and sound good so i kept it and im not saying that for the sake of argument. Maybe i just got lucky and it doesnt suit some cars? Or maybe your mates is fitted badly? i still have my middle box and cat in too. and its well made and well finished for the price of it, if you bought a more exepensive exhaust you wouldnt notice much difference apart from slightly tidier welds. i wouldnt keep it on my baby if it was crap, and all my mates that have seen it reckon its good too, so i dunno lol

On the subject of TTE exhausts, you can get a lovely sebring or remus for about 150, whereas the tte one is £191 or something like that. Its also been mentioned on here that remus make the TTE box. So if you want TTE springs and exhaust buy Eibach and remus and save near 100 quid on the same stuff. you really are paying for the name with tte, which is something i dont like.

TTE stuff second hand in good condition is grand like but the point i was making originally is that they rip the hands off ya for the new stuff!
