1991 Celica Gt Stalling

Hello,

I am original owner of a 1991 automatic Celica GT, no problems until recently when after a 3 day rain storm (may be no connection) it started to stall when I slowed down or stopped. The engine is running rich with a very smelly exhaust. I live in France, no one here has a clue about a car like this. In the States, I told them the problem and what Toyota in France had suggested and they said absolutely wrong. Even though they obviously couldn't look at the car, Toyota US said it's not the timing belt, not the catalystic converter, not oxygen sensor, etc. but that it was probably a cracked intake hose and that I could test that by duct taping the hose - problem is I don't know where or what that hose is???? Anyone else had this problem?

I found a website with 1991 Toyota engine diagrams but none of the tubes are called "air intake" (of course!!!) so if any of you know this could you look at the diagram and translate and tell me what it's called on the diagram or tell me where it actually is, so that I can recognize it (hopefully) on my engine!

website: http://opc.mr2oc.com/online_parts_catalog/...um_diagrams.pdf

very grateful for all help.
