Regarding Servicing

Having read on other threads about Toyotas servicing costs I doubt if I'll go there, so does anyone think taking it to a small independant garage mechanic be wise?

Well if your warranty is up you arent tied to a Toyota dealer anyway, so you can get it serviced anywhere. It depends whether a Toyota FSH is important to you.

I got mine serviced at an approved Toyota servicing centre but they are actually a Nissan garage. I saved £125 over what my Toyota centre quoted me! So the savings are out there if you look!

My Matiz, when I had it, just got serviced at a F1 Auto Centre - they did a good job and it only cost about £50-ish, can't remember the exact price but as it was out of warranty there was no point taking it to Daewoo....

As your car is a CDX the warranty will probably be over now (unless you've extended it) so like I said, if the Toyota service history is important to you then get it serviced at an approved centre and if not you can get it serviced anywhere you like....

Does it actually make a difference when selling the car if it has full Toyota FSH or another garage's stamp in the book? Some people in the trade say it does and others say it doesn't. I reckon when it comes to selling a car some wise crack buyer will try and knock you down just because it doesn't have full dealer stamps in the book even thought it shouldn't really make a difference. Sometimes going to a private garage for a service is better as they actually care about providing a good reliable service so others will bring their cars in via word of mouth. Some Mr T dealers can charge the higher rate just because they are the official dealer but they are not always that good and trust their computers instead of their experience.

Put it this way ...... Which car would you buy?

One with:

1) Full Toyota History

2) Full Service History elsewhere

Okay they both might be hit and miss quality/service wise, but at the end of they day everybody would take the Toyota one if two cars came up the same
