Door Speakers Hitting The Door Cards...

Already had upgraded door Speakers fitted using the autoleads adapters, but have just changed them for infiniti 62.7i's.

When the door cards arent on it sounds brilliant but from what i can gather the Speakers cone surround is touching the door card once its fitted and is making it sound awful at any volume other than really quiet. If i fit the grill surround it sounds fine but then its holding the door card to far off so you cant pop it on - i even tried dremeling the grill surround to a point where the door cards will pop in but then im back to the Speakers hitting the cards!

I know theres a lot of people on here with upgraded door speakers and am just wondering if any body has had this problem and what you have done to overcome it? Otherwise im off outside to start scratching my head again!!

Cheers

I have a problem with my door speaker nearest me distorting slightly at high volumes which i think is due to it not being fixed in properly. Are your Speakers rivetted in and screwed into the adapters tightly? I need to space my Speakers further at one stage due to the magnet catching the windows on the way down so i hope mine done hit the speaker grill! I would suggest making some custom spacers that dont space as much if the Speakers arent already catching the windows on there way down?

The adapters are riveted to the doors and Speakers screwed into the adapters - both are secure. The Speakers i had in before fouled with the window badly these are fine but theres only about 5mm clearance, i might have to make my own adapters as you suggest though as that 5mm might just give me the clearance i need at the other side!! - will probably foul the window again then! It sounds really good with out the door cards so am sure its got to be the speaker hitting onto the grill in the door card. Am off out in a min to have a look and see if i come up with any bright ideas.

Cheers

What Speakers have you got fitted? Am just wondering so I can compare the mounting depth against the ones i have to know wether they will foul the windows or not. take it yours don't foul the windows?

my conponents are just directly screwed into the doors, new holes were drilled, very slightly catches the window, hardly noticable. sounds dead on even though their being amped, with some frequencies it vibrates but mostly is ok, some dynamat will fix that tho.
