Hi everyone again!!

i did post earlier bragging bout my brand new Aygo but here goes....

picked it up 30th Novemeber 06 and within 2 weeks my engine management light came on!! (the friday before xmas) couldn't get it to toyota till the following wednesday because they were closed.

They turned of the light and quoted code po172 (i think) anyway they assured me it was safe to drive and booked it in for the 10th jan for them to investigate it further. I had to take it back to them last night because its sounding as rough as a nova lol!

No power up hills

Very noisy engine

And a tapping noise!!!

I am not pleased with their service as at first they said that they didn't have a courtesy car for me and i had to talk quite harshly to them to get one sorted for me! they were advising me to call RAC so i could get a courtesy car off them!?!??!!?

Well today i am in a bogg standard aygo as my courtesy car and am still awaiting a call off toyota.

Has anybody had this happen to their car?

i am unsure about any permanent damage?!?!

thanks

I haven't heard of any problems with the 1kr-fe engine. Seems that it is built in Japan and Poland and is the same as the one used in the Yaris of course, and the Sirion. Google doesn't show any bad reports either.

All the four Toyota engines I've had seemed to be pretty solid, so you are unlucky to get a dud. Let us know what Toyota say.

Edit: have a look here. Seems that the P0172 error is a mixture too rich code on Toyotas and cars from other manufacturers.

Googling for engine po172 gives quite a lot to look at.

cheers paul,

i have noticed that there's not alot of bad points regarding the Aygo's 107's and C1's which i thought was reasuring.

Hopefully i will hear off them today so i will post whats going on.

Thanks

**update**

Toyota called yesterday and they still haven't found the problem!!! so it has to have yet another 'in-depth' investigation! it has already had 3 investigations.

I just dunno what to think, could they be telling me porkies? I just presumed that with new cars they plug it in to a computer and bobs your uncle!

im just really missing my car, i can't wait to have it back!

Another update**************************************

toyota just phoned.

they said that they can't fix engine and the only thing they can do is replace the engine completley! It will be ready in about a week!

HOWEVER,

Toyota in the last couple of weeks have sent me away from the garage twice saying it is safe to drive blah blah blah and then all the noises started so i took it straight back.

I am really disgusted with Toyota now! is this the kind of misconduct i should expect!!!!! they have come accross as an incompetent dealership to me.

to be honest I would be tempted to tell them to stuff their new engine and ask for a whole new car. :!Removed!:

how long you had it?

Like what? I've done a bit of customising too, but nothing to dificult to

remove and put on a new car (or buy a new one, like a tinted sun visor strip...
