Warranty Query

Hey All,

The Yaris Blue has had, what I can only describe as a long "squeek" or maybe squeal is the right word coming from the front offside wheel, it's now got longer and louder - so much that it can be heard over music which is on at a standard volume! A certain "Yaris Guru" aka Yves said immediately it's the brake binding, which my previous Yaris T3 suffered with on the same wheel. I took the T3 back to the dealer who cleaned it & adjusted it and it was fine after, so I know that is the solution...

As some of you might remember I had a few issues with Toyota regarding the first 10,000 service. The car was a pre-reg, registered in January and I got it in March with 17 miles on the clock - yup, seventeen! I got no reminders regarding the service and when it got to March 2006 and it went in, with less than 10,100 miles on it I got shockingly bad service, spoken to like I was a piece of dirt on the womans shoe and they implied that I had done the worst thing ever and it might affect the warranty as I hadnt got it done from the date of the first registration. This was rectified by a call to Customer Services and the assurance that it wont affect it. The 20,000 mile service came round in December 2006 as I do very high mileage some months and I went to a Toyota & Lexus specialist as I refused to pay the £265 that Toyota wanted, the specialist did it for a respectable £90 and said that there is a slight oil leak coming from the sump or main bearing (they think) so it will need to go back for that & also the brake binding can be sorted at the same time. It was at 20,400 miles for the second service - so I've kept as near to the mileage amounts as possible.

So, my main concern is that Toyota will try and weed their way out of the warranty issues - I dont think they will have a leg to stand on with the fact that I got it serviced at a non-Toyota dealer as they used all genuine materials, can anyone confirm this for me? I was advising a Policyholder at work today about work being done on his car and the warranty and I've given myself doubts now lol. I'm having an operation in two weeks and will be having at least two weeks off work which is when I am hoping to get something sorted depending on how I feel and dont want any stress!

Sorry for the essay btw

My dad had his S2000 serviced by a S2000 specialist and still had work done under honda warranty a year later!

Hope this helps!

Same - Had work done at that dude in Northampton (Toyota specialist).

Went back to Toyota afterwards for summit after (can't remember what though).

I know mine went back, because of a squeak at the rear driver's side wheel. Was caused by one of the suspension bushes being too dry. They greased it up, and sent me on my way! :D

Hell Yeah...

Not much to go back for with the ol' French P2. Squeaky rear suspension, rattly windows, and summit else... I think....

Damn - must lay off the Strongbow....

As long as the service centre is listed on the Toyota site as an approved servicing centre (which it should be, being a Toyota & Lexus specialist) and they used Toyota approved parts etc (which they do!) then you'll be fine.

Go to the Toyota website, do a dealer search - it will put your mind at rest

Good luck for your op by the way, hope its nothing too serious
