Can I Be Depressed

i am very depressed this 2007 (happy new year everyone)

I woke up yesterday very depressed, now I may not be a mega trend setter in london or LA and well maybe not even in Lincolnshire, and being one of the first in Lincoln to have an Aygo it took me a few moments to adjust to the following trend of Aygo buyers but I told myself it was a cool city car and well the cool city people of Lincoln had to buy it, but now the ultimate has hit me, my next door neighbour has got one! now I dont live in a big street or even a particaurly classy street, terraces houses, and there was array of mostly bangers will some top quality vehicles dotted in between (lotus elise at top???), but to buy an Aygo, specially from some bird who apeears to copy everything else I do including clothes etc, this has gone to far.. to copy my car! I cant take it anymore, now its in a different colour at least but still am very depressed and considering changing my car now, if she comes round and asks about my mods I may give her a wedgy or something more severe. I dont want to change my car cos I love my aygo, may change it for soprt version and wait til the 07 plates come out and get every mod going but am not sur that will be enough for me) am I stressing over nothing or would everyone else be equally annoyed ?

Forgive a Yaris owner for butting in but I guess it's a similar situation.

To be honest, yes, I think you are making a fuss about nothing. You should drive the car that you want to and enjoy it. Exclusivity only comes with very expensive vehicles and come to think of it, not even then.

Consider it a compliment that your neighbour was so impressed by your car that she had to go out and get one herself.

What you need is a cheap Jap import which nobody has heard of as your second car. You don't actually need to drive it, just leave it on your drive

Thanks guys, I will get over it in a few days, and I know I cant get exlusivity on a cheap little city car, especially living smack in the middle of a cheap city..lol.

I am not fortunate enough to have a drive and right now the new one is parked directly outside my front window, which is pushing it a bit..lol, and I do luuurve my Aygo so am not gonna give it up, but I think the idea of a 2nd car is fab, been fancying an evo 8 for ages so will have to start saving.

Let just hope I dont end up with Single White Female problem...lol..and if she asks I will tell her about TOC, maybe, eventually, ..lol...think this is the first time I have had a tantrum since me teens..lol.

I have to agree that you have to Grimace and Bare it. But, if she is really copying you, you could (for a laugh) talk about selling (trading it in or whatever) the Aygo as you really want something else (name a car - a Skoda or a Fiesta - especially if you know of someone who could lend you a brand new one which you could park outside your house).

This is going to sound really far-fetched but, next thing, start parking a different car where you currently park the Aygo (which has to be hidden away somewhere) and see if she changes to your "new" car.

As soon as you drive the new car away from home perhaps you could, on a daily basis, swap it back for your Aygo.

How long did she take to copy your choice of car? As soon as she changes to the Skoda (or whatever) you can change back to the Aygo and say you changed your mind. She'll probably change back then too though.

This sounds really far-fetched and over the top but, if you do it, let us know what happens!

But try not to let this depress you - don't take stuff too seriously

I have had a few glasses of wine and couldnt even follow that plan...so me thinks I will just sulk for a day or two more...get over it and get a 2nd car thats cooler like a bugatti veyron (can anyone lend me £700,00?) its just a bit easier..lol well except the bugatti bit..lol

I dont believe it, there is now another one my street, and this one is the same colour as mine, exactly the same exact for a newer plate, is it just me or does everyone else have two other Aygos on their street? are they that popular now? its small street its not like a mile long, anymore come along and it will be renamed aygo street! looks like I am off to the estate agents tommorrow

Want to borrow my Integra :D . I can guarantee you'll not have to worry about neighbours copying, in fact im the only one in my town dumb enough to pay these running costs :ffs: . Still it'll be gone soon and i'll have a town-tootling Yaris hopefully.

I've only seen 1 other Aygo in Staffs so far, parked at ASDA. So I'm hoping there isn't a huge influx after I get mine - I like the idea of having a funky little car that no one else has!! Although i'm probably going to put pink stars all over it when i get it, so it'll still be the only one!! :D

Not wishing to appear rude or anything but can you really be surprised that a little car like the Aygo is so popular?

I think I'd be more worried if no-one else bought one. I'd be thinking "what's wrong with it?".

cause.. not appearing rude at all!! and no am not suprised that it is popular, it should be its a great little car! an it doesnt bother me that every other street in lincoln has one but i feel the odds on have 3 aygos in a small street of less 40 little terraced house (mostly occupied by OAPS), there are no yaris's and no 107s no c1 in fact no citreons all together, no minis, no swifts no golfs, I could go on because there is such a large range of mass produce citys cars.. i am just a little disgruntled that that the weight of the street lies in Aygos, my apologies for airing my disapointment here much to some peoples surpirse ..but i do hope no one else has to on a daily basis park theres next to two others...but I will end topic now...unless a fourth one comes along...lol.

If you are thinking of getting Aygo art, have a look on eBay - they've got loads of shops that do different decals at a LOT less than the official aygo ones, and in a much broader array of patterns. I got mine from a seller called aurum92, and they said if you e-mailed them they could do just about anything.

Have now got the stars, but not the car...highly frustrating!!!
