Stereo Fitting Question

Afternoon all...

I recently treated myself to a new head unit after my Pioneer went up literally in smoke

I just wanted something cheap & cheerfull that would bide the time to my carputer install.

i picked up a Halfrauds special - the Ripspeed CMR-i3000 - basically because it played MP3 cd's & had an iPod link  plus it was half price

Anywho - i had to bodge the HU fitting because the side brakets didn't match the holes on the HU.

Has anyone else noticed this or is it just me?

Yeah, to put the 1 din stereo in the middle of the 2 din hole (with facia adaptor), I had to butcher my mounting brackets as well. I messed up the first time, forgot which was left and which was right, and got the holes in all the wrong places!

Yeah i had to leave the top part of the original toyota deck in there to hold the new one...

Will have another look at it this weekend.

Mine was spot on. Cheap Sony. Bolted in with no bodging. Took about 20mins to do the lot start to finish.

Hi all, i know its been asked a few times before, but im installing a new HU

and dont like any of the `pockets or cubby-holes` out there for the 6th gen

and was thinking of just `blanking` the space-out, with something that will

look like it blends-in with the dash and just woundered if any body has done

this, and if possible any pics, as when do fit the HU, i want to do the job in one

go, cheers

Not seen them for a while, mainly cos i haven't been looking, but I know you can get 1 din metallic blanking plates off eBay that always look like they blend in nicely! Normally have 'Toyota' or 'Celica' either engraved in or punched out for back-lighting. Might be worth a look?

Where did you get your 1 Din Pocket from Jones~32? I've been looking for something for ages and tried halfrauds but nowt doin there either.

My Toyota Blanking plate rattles like crazy and drives me mad unless i stick some cardboard in to stop it. doesn't look too nice though. Would be great to convert it into some extra storage even if it's only for my shades and phone.

Hi,

I got a nice black DIN sized 6 CD holder, looks great just push and there is a CD.

Also tried the pocket route, got one if anyone wants to buy it or go to eBay.
