Tyres?

Hey all

I am maybe in the market for a set of rear tyres for my st205.

At the moment I have Kumho's on the front and a rather tired set of Yok's on the rear.

The fronts have loads of tread and are in good nick.

Is it bad to have different tyres front to back (as 4 wheel drive)?

Been quoted £79 each for Marangoni Zeta's

£60 each for Kumho 712's (same as front)

£116 each for Bridgestone RE010's

What are peoples experience with tyres?

Just after a bit of feedback as will be replacing them soonish.

Thanks

Richie K

I have just replaced my Avon tyres with Falcons, have used Falcon tyres on previous cars and find them excellent, really good grip on the road in wet and dry conditions, only thing i will say is you get a bit more road noise with them. I bought them direct from Falcon online for £127 a pair delivered, that price was for 18" tyres.

A friend has the Marangoni's on his car, not a GT4, but they hold the road really well... good grip in the wet too... not too sure about lifespan on them though

I'm running Eagle F1s and can't fault them

Should be no more than 2mm tread difference front to rear  bad for the center diff if more also ideally you should have the same type of tyre on all corners otherwise the difference in grip levels can cause the diffs to be overworked.

Cheers guys.

Will probably go for the Kumho's in the end as I have them on the front and they are quite new so will be within the 2mm tread difference.

Read a few reviews and they are supposed to be on par with bridgestones etc.

I have found them for £55 each delivered, with I thought wasn't bad at all.

Thanks again

Tyres are the only thing holding your car to the road, and are hence one of the things I am really anal about and will not compromise on :)

I would only consider performance tyres such as Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3s or Toyo T1s, once you have felt the grip that is offered by tyres like these, you won't go back!

Anal?? Not at all !

I'd NEVER compromise on tyres for exactly the reason you stated. Price isn't an option as far as I'm concerned. If you don't have complete confidence in your rubber then it's a waste of money. Eagles are the best I've ever had on any car ( admittedly my car history isn't exactly full of supercars though ! ). They seem to be consistently good on any car.
