You will notice a whole lot of difference, if you only change the Speakers, that should be your first port of call for an upgrade.

Cheap is ok, but try and spend a bit of money towards them, and try and listen to them in a car rather than in a shop.

Listening to them in a shop won't always tell you how good they sound, and possibily the sales person will just try and sell them to you to move stock.

What one person likes the sound of, you might just hate them!!

Happy listening...

Hi Mate, great work. Do you have any idea how to remove those two plastic strips on the steering wheel near the audio controls? Cause I want to spray them silver. Thanks

Thanks to CustomICE for hosting the guide. It took me a whole morning to do the work and write up the guide. If you have any further questions, I'll try to answer them.

smoftah - They are the Vibe FLI range. 6.5" fronts and 5.5" rear Speakers. Available at most places. I got mine at Fletchers, but I'm sure the usual ICE dealers and even Halfords will have them.

KVN027 - Sorry mate. Not sure what two bits you have as mine is a T3 without the steering controls.

GRD008 - The upgraded Speakers will give you MUCH better quality of sound. I found my original headunit to provide really good sound with the original Speakers. But I prefer a little more 'oomph' in the music so I upgraded the headunit and the speakers. As man-bing says (trust me, he know his stuff - check out his install), make sure you check out the seakers properly. One range of speakers will sound totally different to another range. If possible, try listening to them in a car (or confined location as thats what a car is). open air speakers or speakers on display at Halfords may sound good, but when in the car they may sound bad.

If I had to do the job again, I would probably try to re-wire the speaker wires too. I'm finding that after changing my speakers and writing up that guide, I also have a fault with the wiring. It suddenly shifts from stereo to left or right or rears. For the most part, my sound is ok, but for a couple of seconds randomly, the sound comes out wrong. The speaker wires are a little weak I think or may have cracked over the years.

Either way, I'm ok with it now. I'll be changing cars in a few months anyway.

Hope the guide is of use to you.
