I have the hose as in picture but it doesn't connect to anything lime in yours, is it something to do with air con? my car doesn't have air con.

It's starting to look like the water is eeeping in through the body seams. When I spray water under the wing, you can see the water seep in but only a few minutes later not immediatley. Is it a question of just resealing with body seal sealer?

hey kman1, I don't have air con too!

Perhaps you should try and pull up your carpet and see if there is a hole in the chassis for the hose to go through?

Maybe your previous owner replaced new carpets for an air con Yaris (which hasn't got that hole in it... i guess) and forgot to cut that hole and reposition that hose!

I am sure if you got that hose, it should go through the chassis. And I guess the water that leaks into the car (with the spray test you just did) may partly come through the hole under the chassis, which is where the hose should poke through.

If you open the bonnet, you could reach that hole with your hands! I will take another pic to show you in a min.

P.S. I never wash my car with jet washer... jet washer will damage tyre walls, car seals and sometimes even damage body work... i.e. paint. It's not hard to wash your beloved car with hands. I am a poor bugger and I could only afford to wash my car with water, but that does the trick! Once every 2 weeks is good enough :)

Yes I have that hose, but it just sits there, there is no hole in the carpetbut there is a hole in chasis and foam padding for it.

The water coming in is no where near this hole.

called toyota customer service today, this is an issue they are aware of. They will cover it under the body warranty if a dealer confirms it is the same issue i.e body seam failure

  • 3 weeks later...

This was fixed by Toyota in the end, they took the car in for 3days, gave me a corteousy car and they replaced all the interior carpet and underlay foam. All for free on a 2002 car not bad at all in the end. Well at least I hopr it's fixed! Anyone else with similar problems I urge you to pusue the dealers it's a known issue.
