I just bought my aygo black a couple of months ago. it arrive on the 1st of november.

I jumped in an everything was working fine but after i showed my mates the car, they said it sounds pretty loud for a new car. i was not impressed, and then the other day someone said is my car a diesal????

:ffs: :ffs: :ffs:

is this normal with the aygo because its so cheap that they cant sound proof the engine?

or is their something wrong with my car?

The sound of the three cylinder engine in the Aygo (and 1.0 New Yaris) is considered by many owners to be "quite unique and sporty".

Most owners like this sound (some actually admitting to "revving it a bit whilst waiting at traffic lights".............You know who you are ;) ) but if you are really not happy you could mention it to your Toyota dealer next time you are passing.

Welcome to TOC

It's a 3 cylinder and is meant to sound that way.

i thought it was because of the 3 cylinder engine :)

Hi,

my car was loud and noisey the first day i picked it up and i presumed it was meant to be like that, and two of my friends actually went as far to say that they would have taken it straight back to toyota! i didn't listen to them and a week later my engine management light came on! :-(

So i don't really know what an Aygo is supposed to sound like, if itdoes sound really bad just nip it back to the garage, better safe than sorry!

Well it should sound 'normal' when driving mainly but at rest if you blip the gas you should hear a bit of a rumble from the exhaust best described as a 'burble' and you might hear some air movement noise. The hotter the engine the louder the noise I have found.

Been noisey for 28,000miles now and nothing gone wrong! That's done it, oh the glovebox lid, it's rubbish, going to give them a chance and let them replace it at the next service.

LOL. I know who I am! ;) Vroom Vroom. Aygo's sound nearly as good as a Ferrari in my opinion.

Indeed. Tis why I am getting a new backbox for mine.

Let it sing.

And also. I've noticed when your pushing it hard on the motorway you can start to hear the transmission whine, bit like rally cars. :)

Sounds sweet. Supercharger/Transmission whine. If you know what I mean.

*EDIT* Just noticed how old the last post was.

I love the sporty sound of the Aygo. To me it sounds like a baby Lamborghini Gallardo ;)
