Hi and welcome!

Dunno about hints and tips, but they're good vehicles - my parents are on their 4th!

Economy will increase btw so don't worry too much about a heavy thirst when new.

I WAS about to say that the Audi has a good sized boot........but then realised you can't really be expected to carry a dog in it !

Good luck with the new Rav, and Welcome to TOC !

I've got an Xt4 and have found that fitting the T180 rear door check strap really usefull (allows the door to open fully), also fitted the rear bumper protector (cost about £45, plastic strip covers rear bumper and stops the dog scratching it when getting in). If you can find one, the cargo net from the last shap Rav fits , the 2000 to 2005 shape. (Fits into the same roof fittings and the clips go under the bottom of the back seats).

Hope this helps, Rich.

Yeah the dog wouldn't be very happy in the Audi boot :D

think they are about the same size albeit a different shape plus with the Rav it can be made bigger , which will come in handy

What make of tyre does everyone use , been looking at prices on my-tyres and they don't seem too bad , what sort of mileage can I expect , do they all wear evenly ?

loads a questions :D :help:

OK thanks- that sounds like good advise , seen a few cargo nets on eBay, but the one I'm buying already as some sort of mesh/ guard in the back , I ll have to check it out when I pick the car up , Ill wait an see if the dogs jumps out the back first , she only as short legs and wont jump very high distances .

Thanks for the warm welcome , Got the car now and really loving it , keep finding different things as i go along ,

looks like the tyres will only last another 6 months or so and the car as done 28k , will these be the original tyres ? they are bridgestones all with about 3mm left and the spare is brand new , never been used .

what do you all recommend for replacements ?

ps the dog loves the car jumps straight in an out !

I cant say for sure KGB, but my guess is that they are indeed the first tyres on the car,, not bad a.. 28k and still going strong.. are they evenly worn? and are they all the same brand?

I also had an audi before we got our Rav4. I had an A4 TS

are you planning to take your new Veh off road?

Yeah they are definitely the original tyres all the same and worn evenly so must have been rotated .

Took the car into the Yorkshire dales yesterday (Sunday )and averaged 33mpg which I'm really pleased with and better than i thought , very happy with the car so far, drives really well and cant really fault it at the moment.

As for going off road - I might have a venture down a muddy lane now and again but nothing too serious till i get some better tyres , hope it snows soon though !

After around 8000 miles the tyres on my new Rav4 are showing signs of wear and, extrapolating the depth loss, I'd guess 30000 will be the limit (they're Yokohamas).

I'm disappointed in this as the tyres on the Freelander I previously had was getting 50000 from its tyres - Wranglers for the first set, replaced at 48000 miles (with 2-3mm remaining) with Michelin Synchrones; I sold it at 80000 miles and these tyres had about 6mm left. Nor did I ever rotate the tyres around the axles - wear was pretty even all round.
