Just finished installing the infinity components (well half finished i have to mount the tweeters) so i'm knackered.

Viperroom: Sounds great, only prob is that it's an older sony HU so doesn't like copied CD's, bummer !!

taximanmeepmeep: Standard cigarette lighter is too small for the new facsia i wish i'd know that cos it was a ***** to get out !!

Yaris SR Kid: Have to meet up for a beer sometime (orange juice as we'll be driving)

The hollow fibre in the door panels worked well too, didn't need much so i have loads left to do the rear doors as well.

Just waiting for my new headunit to arrive, I went for the JVC KD G722 it plays MP3 cd's or it has a usb socket on the front to plug a memory stick into it so you can play mp3's off that as well.

Also i'm pretty sure you can use the usb socket to run an external USB hard drive aswell which means millions of songs :D O yeah and on stereo ugrades, i just put dynamat extreme behind my door 17's and they sound sooo much better! No annoying rattles when it gets bassy and the increase in distortion free bass from them is wicked for £13 :) Top quality mod as far as i'm concerned! Also spaced the Speakers just that little bit more so they don't catch the windows! :D

Ok made some modifications to my install, i had originally made a box the full length of the rear shelf enclosing the rear of the 6x9's but my mate at work told me this was a bad thing as the 6x9's are designed to use the boot space as a kind of box so the sound wouldn't be as good, also the wife was complaining about not getting shopping in the boot.

So i took off the box bit which has given more bass from the rear and improved shopping space, i'm going to add 2 small pieces of batton to protect the connectors and possibly attach the cable so it doesn't pull out the connectors (i have RCA - male to female on the other end so they pop off )

Today i also did the same stereo upgrade to my mates series 1 yaris there are a few differences to consider when doing this so i will put together a guide to both, it's been covered before i think but i will write it anyway, too much info is better than not enough.

Having done it once already to my series 2 yaris it didn't take long at all, taking a break to go to homebase to get some screws for the headunit (why don't they supply them any more) and cutting then down to the 8mm in length required took an extra 30mins or so but as we were just fitting the stereo with standard Speakers left alone etc and the wiring adapter it was really easy.

Guides to follow.

I managed to get the tweeters in today, so all i need to do now is cover the rear shelf and i'm done.

It was a bit of a pain i had to make a cardboard template, then cut it out of thin MDF, tried it for size, adapted it slightly tried it again, chucked it away, made a new one second time it ended up a bit of a funny shape but it fits really well and sounds good too.

Just thought i'd post up the cost of the complete upgrade:

Head unit - eBay : £97.98 inc insured postage etc

Infinity Reference component speaker set - eBay : £47.88 inc delivery

PIONEER TS-A6901 6 X 9 Speakers - eBay : £31.98 inc delivery

Rav 4 fascia - ebay : £17.48 inc delivery

Bass box carpet - ebay : £6.48 inc delivery

18mm MDF 1 x sheet :ffs: : £34

thin MDF 1 x sheet : £4.99

ISO Adapter - ebay : £3.49 inc delivery

1 x speaker cable pack - Halfords : £4.99

5 metres loose cable - Halfords : £3.95

Hollow fibre filling - ebay : £7.98 inc delivery

Surround from toyota : £42.47

Sub total : £303.67

Sold old unit for : £104.01

Total cost = £199.66

If i hadn't been charged so much for the MDF that would have brought that down a bit as well but then i didn't include the sounddeadening (like dynamat) that i had from before.

Also if i can sell my other sony door Speakers that will give me a bit more i can take off the cost.
