Speedo Problem

My 1993 GT-R has got a prob with the speedo, it works ok when first driven from cold but then stops(about 20 mins into the drive to work) and drops to 0 and doesn't work, all the other gauges are fine (revs, fuel, Battery and temp). And now the engine management light has come on, but its fine to drive....

Any ideas on what it could be, and how to fix it?????

Not too sure, but if I had to guess I'd say that it's hoofed !

The speedo on a GT-R is electronic, so I'd say that some part of the circuitry is probably overheating and failing. More than likely it's in the clock unit itself ( I would have thought anyway ). Electronics are repairable if you are familiar with them - although the schematics for clock unit's aren't usually made public.

All I can suggest is to maybe try another set of clocks in it ( if you can borrow some from anyone ), it'll help to narrow the fault down if nothing else.

Just a quick update...since I posted this question, the speedo has come back life and has not done it again since Saturday morning, and I've covered a few miles!!!!

Very strange....
