Wing Mirror Trim

Not much help this, but another driver ripped mine off and it cost £200 for a new one (£100 for the mirror!! and the rest on the body & cover) The dealer reckoned it had to be painted, but when I got the bits back I could see that his story was, as usual for toyota dealer, a load of horse, and the cover you need simply unclips (carefully)

Hope you get a better deal than I did!

Cheers.

dealer says it may need to be painted. He also says he wont send it to bodyshop as it will cost loads. Will wait and see! Weirdly exactly the same thing happened to my last car( focus)! Just plain disappeared!

Sounds like a crazy price for a wing mirror but it wouldn't suprise me. I imagine the thought process goes something like this:

Toyotas are generally quite reliable so how can we make some money? I know, what needs replacing most on a car? Well. for a start there's wing mirrors. They are always getting thumped or otherwise damaged so let's load the price..... .

Probably goes for wheel trims too. Say no more!

Hiya,

Does any one know if you can just buy the plastic cover from the front of the wing mirror?

The mirror itself is fine just the front plastic cover is missing. Can I just buy this or do I have to buy the whole wing mirror unit?

Thanks in advance

Tracey

Just stumbled across this post:

http://toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.p...1&hl=mirror

Mirror backin' - T87915-05900 £ 17.44+VAT

does anyone know if this is the same part number for the driverside and a for 2002 cts?

If not does anyone have the part number I would need?

My cts is metalic dark blue, anyone know the part number for the paint spray and lacquer?

Thanks

Tracey

Yup, I chased the guy who did it, he jumped a couple of red lights to get away from me in his !Removed!! Anyway, I found out the one of the ball and sockets on the swivelly thing in the back was burst, and the mirror has the heater element on the back and that's why I needed the lot. Presumably, looking at the figures being quoted that's what made up the bulk of my £200 with only £20ish going on the cover.

I agree with you though, these dealers should be wearing black facemasks!
