Bluetooth Phone Woes With My New Rav4

I have a Nokia 6280, and I have 3 problems; my dealer says they are unsolveable, but I solved one of them thanks to this forum.

1. People claimed my voice was muted when I called. Forum sorted that, thanks!

2. can't transfer address book. Tried it also with my old SE T610. same problem. In both cases the moment I hit the transfer button, the bluetooth connection hangs up, and it reconnects as soon as the transfer stops. Dealer says it just can't be done, but that's ridiculous. Somebody managed it on their Prius in this forum.

3. using the phone in the car drains the Battery like nothing I've ever seen.

Must say i have sympathy with the dealers. Toyota need to sort this out.

Anybody got any advice on 2, 3 above?

Thanks

Can't help with the questions above but having bluetooth switched on will drain the Battery of ANY phone ...... you can either by a new phone/battery or you can buy a docking/charging station for your car  !

It may seem a PITA but it's better than getting stopped by the cops, having a thing sit on your ear that hurts after a while, and having to remember to charge it up ;)

Even if all you can do is answer calls

I can't help with the specific problems here but my $0.02 worth on the subject. I thought about getting bluetooth kit in my Rav4, along with the GPS, but decided it wasn't worth the cost. Separates are far cheaper and, in my view, more convenient.

I've used bluetooth headsets with phones for a few years - I change my phone every year or two (cheap upgrades through my contract). I currently have a Motorola V3i which works fine with the Motorola headset I got with it. It auto answers and has voice dialling for all numbers in the phone/SIM memory - just say the name and it connects. Again, I can take it with me for any car I'm driving - especially when using hire cars when away on business.

My GPS is a nice slim Garmin that fixes to the screen and can be switched to my wife's car, or the current loan car I have, within seconds.

ive just fitted a Parrot CK3000 Evolution which was easy to fit and used a toyota to parrot audio lead which mutes the radio. it connects whenever u enter the car and is voice activated by simply saying the word "PHONE" followed by the name of the person u wish to ring. at the end of the call just say hangup.

simple as that

it cost me £68 and £20 for the audio lead

hope this helps

You may have solved your phonebook problem, if so ignore me - been pouring over the excellent forums having just returned to a RAV two weeks ago (brand new T180) after flings with a Hyundai;Volvo and Audi. V happy so far despite turning to the dark side  (diesel) for the first time!

Anyway, had your problem (no 2) when my Samsung D600 did the same thing, despite following instructions to the letterjust kept disconnecting. After messing around got the transfer to complete by multiple selection of the phonenumbers on the PHONE then told the phone to send by bluetooth to the handsfree (car). As if by magic the car then picked up transfer ~ job done !

BTW any T180 owners have any input on the "use low sulphur fuel only"? I have a Jet account and after a brief panic delve on their website (followed by a couple of calls) established that all their diesel is low sulphur anyway, but wondered if stuck on a journey elswhere how imperitive this is?

Thanks for the tip. I think I tried that, but I will try again. I had given up and decided to live with just the limited number of speed dials. Of course one can use the phone itself to find numbers but not while driving.

In the UK, you'll probably struggle to find road-legal diesel that isn't low sulphur. Actually, I take that back - forecourts should now be selling ultra-low sulphur diesel - which that means you'd struggle to find the older "low sulphur". However, since the instruction means avoiding higher sulphur levels (which can damage catalysts and give significantly worse pollutants), you should be fine!
