Flat Battery 98 Avensis

Hello All,

I have a 98 Avensis 1.8GS, the bettery discharges over about 7 days or so, the Battery is only 6 months old and the alternator is charging.

There is a static drain on the Battery of 140mA (clearly too much). This would result in the Battery being discharged from full over 10 days.

If i remove the Dome 7.5 Amp fuse the level of discharge drops to only 20mA. So the fault clearly lies in this part of the circuit.

When this fuse is removed the central locking does not work, nor do the interior lights.

I have removed all interior lights and the glove and boot light but this makes no difference.(the static drain remains at 140mA)

Any ideas?

my initial thought are Alarm ( if you have one fitted ). These cause more electrical problems than anything else.

Best advice is to go to an Auto Electrician and get them to diagnose/trace the fault. It's what they do and it shouldn't cost you more than an hours labour with them.
