Hi Guys ...... have just registered on this great site, loads of info indeed :) i'm a cabbie have had two toyotas 1995 carina mileage was 325,000 an amazing car and a 1998 avensis 275,000 miles not bad either, changed car a big mistake to F**D M****O for a couple of years not happy with it at all. Have now return to the wonderful Avensis its a 02 reg estate CDX but have hit a few problems have been sorting some of them out, then I had a top hose go unheard of, but things happen, the problem now the VSC and EML lights are on, something must have got very wet. Took car to local Toyota dealer and they done test on car £44.06 while you wait not bad at all and as they had G.T. on playstation 2 I was well happy :D.

anyway here are the fault codes that was listed on report

Codes found: C1203 Engine control system communications circuit

P0172 System too rich (A/F rich malfunction,bank 1

P0115 Engine coolant temperature circuit

I didn't have chance to speak to the techician about this but they want car back for up to two days to do tests, was wondering if any of you guys know about these codes?? are there any web sites or anywhere so that I can check these codes out, any info on this will be great :) if one of the rad fans play up ( the wiring looks a mess ) would this show up as a fault............

Hi Chris,

Welcome to TOC.

Can't really help you with the error codes as they use a totally different system on my car, but someone will probably be along soon who can be much more useful than me !

BTW . . . you can say Ford Mondeo if you like on here :P

Hi Chris

Check the wiring going to the coolant temerature sensor.

I had a simaler problem on my D4D and it was just a dodgy wire at the connector where it joined the wiring loom.

As for the other problem i would first check the air filter, if ok then clean the maf sensor. (read other posts regarding this)
