Vibrations And Wheel Wobble 45mph+

Hi all,

my GEN4 when pushed over 45 mph starts to vibrate through the steering dash, had wheel swapped, new tyre, balanced several times and alignment done. Seems to come from passenger side.

mechanic couldnt see anything obviously wrong, i.e bearings and checked suspension related parts.

I did a full lock and noticed the outer CV joint gaiter leaking grease, have been intending to renew/replace this !!

[Drivers side CV joint was changed due to clicking on full turns].

Q: Could this CV joint be the culprit, or are vibrations not CV joint/driveshaft related?

TIA

Usually not unless it's seriously fubar. Then it'd probably be hanging off. I'd be more inclined to look at suspension rubbers, balljoints, steering rack etc. Swap wheels front to back and not side to side. A wheel out of balance on the same axle can appear to affect either side.

Don't forget to check the upper mounts for the front struts. Probably the most most neglected area on cars. Out of sight out of mind. ;)
