B) Well I've got a '94 RAV with 166k miles on the clock. The original 3SFE engine packed up at 160k miles due to oil spewing out of a crankshaft seal I think and my daughter failing to keep the oil up. Still have the original engine for stripping down one day ... I got another 3SFE engine pretty cheaply but the main cost was the garage not understanding that the engine comes out the bottom and not the top so it took them ages! Up until 140k miles the engine was great and it had had a thrashing in its lifetime I can tell you!!!!

Hi GT4B,

the only problem thats come to light over the last few months ,is the front coil springs can snap a coil off ,this inturn can damage the tyres  .

If your budget will stretch to the facelift model, i feel it has a better spec.

this is a facelift (clear front indicators, twin headlamp units).

Think the facelift was around 1997 , on a R or S Reg  .

I bought a 2001 Rav 4 auto 5 doors last year feb (14) for my missus and nothing more than a fantastic car! Since we got her only one fault was a sensor, warranty issue... Oh with the strong winds last week our daughter let the door go so the door holder snapt off... Every time I drive the car I have a smile on my face. (through out the week I drive a Merc C220 CDI). I drives very light, good view all around, nice big mirrors, good seats.
