Drop-in Air Filter

Heya,

It is a racing shop really close to me, which is why I'm considering a drop-in air filter. I've got no need for a new air filter, but I guess a Sparco air filter couldn't do any harm to the 1.3, actually the opposite, just do good things for it. Better breathing, better sound, etc, there are many reasons for why to change the filter. If I was going to buy a filter for the Verso, it needs to be good, and I want a drop-in, it's less work and most improtantly, most people actually manage to make less power with universal cone filter kits, because they mount the cone filter in the wrong place so the engine sucks hotter air than usual. Great..

So, that's why I'm considering a drop-in filter, as it's close from me, and it would be no problem in just ordering it from them and using it up.

I am wondering on one thing, though.. Has anyone tried the Sparco drop in for the 1.3?

I never realised Sparco did any drop in panel filter, thought it was just seats, braces, etc! ! I can't see it being any different from the K&N's, Trd, etc but your never going to feel any particular gains from having it. Have you considered any other cone filter kits like the Apexi??

Does Apexi make custom cone filter kits for the 1NZ? I know it's not going to be a huge increase, all I'm hoping for is a bit better engine response and a finer sound. The thing about these cone filters, is as I said in the first post, they usually are mounted so the engine sucks in hotter air than stock, because a stock airbox will suck in the air from the inside of the fender, for example.

It could of course be possible to re-route the pipes, so the cone filter would be placed near the bottom, or far into the front. But as I also stated, I'm looking for as little job as possible, and I believe a drop-in will do the trick for me.

There are many makes of "drop in" panel filter,

Green

Pipercross

Personally i would go for a green or a pipercross, and dont bother with an induction kit its 3 times the price and not worth it. Put a drop in filter in it and make a new airbox intake pipe out of ducting stuff, thatll be nice.
