Adding Cd Autochanger To 2006 Yaris

Hi

I have a 2006 T Spirit and would like to add a CD Autochanger.

Anyone know if there is a particular brand or standard interface for the existing head-unit that would allow me to buy an after-market changer, or do I have to get the Toyota changer?

If I can fit an after-market changer, how easy is it to get to the connectors?

Do I have to dismantle the centre console, or are the connectors accessible more easily?

Many thanks

I considered this on my 2006 Yaris but decided to go for the MP3 player and the Belkin FM transmitter so I can play my music through the car radio.

My CD's then remain safely at home after ripping them to my MP3 player and I do not have to mess with my cars wiring.

It works well for me

I'm sure someone mentioned about being able to use a connects2 adapter to add and aftermarket CD changer like you could on the old Yaris. Worth a quick search on here to see if you can find it!

I have found a few websites offering the Connects 2, but they seem to stop at 2004 model year.

At least www.connects2.com invite you to contact then to confirm compatibility, so it does sound like the way to go.

Then, the other issue is how easy is it to get to the back of the stereo?

I don't want to hurt my baby by damaging anything just to get to the CD connectors.

Is 2006 the new shape or the phase 2 shape ?

If its the phase 2 shape toyota do a 6 disc changer that fits in the space below the fitted stereo.

That's precisely why I went along the Belkin FM transmitter route mentioned in my previous post..................(Only cost £15 from Amazon)

Have you thought of using this method?

jrampton .......2006 Yariis should be the new shape

Do the head unit's changes CD changer controls work when you are using the FM transmitter?

Yes, it is the new shape.

If My headunit is MP3, what happens when i connect a 6 CD changer? Would MP3 CD's work on it?

I can fit about 100 songs on one CD when i burn an MP3 CD,.. so if it DOES work.. it works out.. erm... i can have 600 songs... LOL.. 100 per CD :P

*Stupid Question* - Sorry.... haha..

Using the FM transmitter you tune the radio into an unused FM station then control the music via your MP3 player..................so the CD changer controls not required
