maybe your back shocks are not in the greatest condition..? are they rubbing on both sides or just one...its not all about the size of the rim the offset is the main thing to consider....a low offset causes the wheel to protrude out further thus causin the rubbin

I'm willing to bet that the offset on your wheels is 38mm (as recommended by OZ) I bought a set of OZ rims with 38mm offset years ago and had the same problem. The offset on my original alloys (my Corolla is an SR that had alloys as standard) was 42mm so the next rims I bought had 42mm offset and I have not hadthis problem since.

where is the offset measurment taken from???

my brother had a g6r bout 2 years ago with 17" oz leggera's aswell thats how i knew.

maybe it is oz so.

maybe the 205 tyre is too wide! the sidewall protrudes alot from alloy.

the falkens have an alloy protector aswell.

i need to find solution that does not envolve new wheels cause i just bought these and

cost me alot.

i could do with harder springs at standard height or something like that!

cheers!

It is probably the offset, as i have 205/40/17's with 40mm offset + lowered 30mm on my facelift sr and have no problems

I had arches partially rolled but found that it was still rubbing at the rear point where the metal arch ends and the top of the rear bumper starts.

so check that once you've rolled the arches.

Just pointing out that getting a smaller alloy doesn't alter the rolling radius as you get a bigger tyre to compensate so you'd struggle with rubbing regardless.

You would have probably had less scrubbing if you'd have gone for 195 section width though.

so your sayin getting a 17" wheel with a 40 sidewall is the same as a 16" wheel with 40 sidewall????

No sense! its goin to be inch smaller!!!!

no good gettin arches rolled as it is catchin about an inch of the tyre.

i have got 195's havent put them on yet tho.

is there any way of gettin a stiffer set up so they wont rub??

springs shocks ect???

No, i'm saying a 17" wheel with a 40 profile tyre is the same as a 16" wheel with 45 profile tyre to compensate for the smaller alloy thus keeping the rolling radius the same. Re-read what i wrote a few times til it makes sense ;)

Rolling the arches will make a massive difference. You could have rolled the arches for half the price of 4 new tyres. There is a lip that protrudes into the wheel well, which is at least an inch deep...remove this and hey presto, no rubbing!

If you would just listen to people who have had arches rolled before you'd be fine. Help is beyond some people!

sounds like you got the wrong offset there, coz i got 17's on mine and they only rub if i got 3 adults in the back going over bumps! mind you my car is not lowerd yet, and im deffinitly getting the arches rolled when i do decide to lower it!
