3 big give aways between the 140 and the 190.

140 has round tail pipe, 190 has oval

140 has 'VVTi' emblazened on the engine cover, the 190 has 'VVTLi'

140 red lines at 7k rpm, the 190 about 8500 rpm.

The 190 was brought out approx the same time as the 140 as the 'VVTi-190'. Then the T-Sport was released a year or so later which was a 190 with all the bells and whistles. By the time the Celica recieved its facelift (from '02 plates onwards), VVTi-190's had finished production to be replaced by the T-Sport only.

Hope that answers everything!

wow thanks thats cleared up a lot.

so whats the difference between the "VVTi-190" and the "T-Sport" ? what extras does the t-sport have?

one last thing - why is it called the "VVTi-190" if it has "VVTLi" written on the engine? bit weird?

It depends on what year T-Sport you get. The earlier ones had a better brake setup (I think) than the VVTi-190. And with the T-Sport you get some funky leather seats, and nicer stock alloys. Beyond that, I am not sure I'm afraid...

Pass - absolutely no idea!
