Avensis Problems?

Ok have not be on for a some time , Just work really . Right then have been reading a lot of post about problems on the avensis . Most of these are on the vvti models from 2001 and on .Ok my car falls in the 1997 to 2001 1st gen . My car is a 1800 se it had 58000 on it when i pick it up .Did 250 miles the day i got the car .Never missed a beat , just before xmas had full 63000 mile service also cam belt and front pads ,they phoned me about the fornts pads instead of just doing them and putting it on bill .All this cost me about £420.00 so not bad really ,Because the bmw i had before cost an arm and a leg £2500.00 for engine rebuild , still hurts thinking about it .But to say i am happy with my avensis well yes . the car is a one owner on a w 2000 plate and in good condition bodywork and engine , it is also a made in britain car is there any difference between my car and a jap made car . ok toyota world in cardiff are spot on as main dealers go .Can anyone tell me the specs on all the 1st gen models. so have i just got a good one , let me know .
