At the moment its reading an average of 37.4 mpg !!

For a 2 litre petrol engine I find this remarkable , admittedly its mostly dual carriageway / motorway driving at about 70-75 mph . Only had the car just over a week so will work it out properly after this full tank ...hope its right though :D

I have a 4.3 and the computer consistently reads about 4mpg high if I check it by calculation. I hope yours is right but don't be too dissapointed if it was also programmed by the Toyota fairy tail dept'. :D

OK thanks.... 33.4 mpg sounds more like it , but I'm still pleased with that , will do a proper calculation when Ive used this tank full .

Took the car to Scarborough yesterday .. 5 adults, 1 dog, a load of camera gear and it took it all in its stride , just loving the versitility of this car  Dont know why we didnt buy one sooner.

Hi my XT5 Auto has 4000 miles on clock and after getting 29.8 when new it has now gone down to 28.1, it will be due its first service in March, not very good when Mr T says i should be getting 31. something and probably the real mpg is around 25 mpg.

My 4.3 D4D computer seems to be high, too. It reports an average around 42mpg at a fill (zero'd when I refill) but calculations on mileage and the derv put in are nearer 39mpg. Some folk reckon their computer is spot on but there are others, like anchorman and myself, whose 'puters are optimistic.

My daily commute isn't ideal for the best consumption but, when I have had a reasonable journey of relaxed driving, I've easily bettered the official figures of 42.8.

My model 4.2 D4D trip is display 45mpg most of the time.... but working it out after each fill is coming between 39 and 41mpg :thumbsup:

Well I have just checked the first full tank = 329 miles and 10.96 gallons used = 30mpg !!

So the computer is at least 6 or 7 mpg out , what's the point in having it if its that inaccurate.

My manual is in Dutch, how do you use your fuel computer?

I have trip/navi button on the stereo , displays avge fuel consumption- avge speed and instant fuel consumption .

But mine is that inaccurate that its not worth bothering with !

My 05 D4D XTR has now done 15000 miles from new .I have put in 1875 litres of diesel . This works out at 8 miles per litre or 36.5 mpg . The display rarely shows a value less than 40 mpg so I can also confirm that it is not accurate by about 4mpg.

I have also noticed that the speedo always shows a speed greater than the speed shown on my navigator of between 3 and 5 mph .

Last week I mixed in a bottle of injector cleaner with a full tank of diesel to se if I could improve my fuel consumption , time will tell.

I've reset mine (2006 T180) after every fill up, and have manually calculated the mpg. So far it has been accurate to with in 1mpg every time. However, I can only seem to get between 32-34mpg :(

My 4.2 D4D XTR 2005 was out by about 3-4 mpg just as was speedometer out by up to 10%. Reading was almost 80 at true 70 mph. At a true 80 reading almost 90. The later reading from Sat Nav was confirmed by a calibrated speed gun at a race meeting which was being used to control pit lane speeds.

It would seem average MPG readings about same % higher as speed readings.

Current Rav (identical model) absolutely spot on a steady 42 mpg using major brand fuel.

I don't get this when running through forrest stages when attending rallies.
