does anyone elses clutch creak?! i don't think it's a mechanical fault as such, more of a cosmetic one but it's really annoying! everytime i press the clutch it creaks! it's a 55 plate

cheers

I had a problem with my clutch on a 54 plate 2.0D4D. I would describe the sound as being similar to pulling a cable tie through. I reported to the garage at the last service. Apparently all that was required was lubrication.

mine went in for this fault last friday and the technician lifted the bonnet and the noise was transmitted through into there. i also noticed that right at the bottom of the clutch travel the pedal would sometimes stick slightly although it always returned to the top. (it was not as smooth as it used to be).

Anyway...they diagnosed it as the ball in the gearbox (or something) which was faulty. just got it back today as they were waiting for parts and it doesnt seem to be fixed. they now have a master slave cylinder on order.

to be honest i dont think that they know what is up with it. warranty runs out in april so they better hurry up.

I had the same problem a few months ago - garage lubricated it and said if that didn't work it needed a new master cylinder.

It didn't stop creaking so they put a new master cylinder in last week - under guarantee. Seems to be fine now.
