T180 Service Costs?

I have just booked my first service (10,000 miles) for my T180 and have been quoted £177 at my local Toyota dealer. They have agreed to rotate the wheels for free! Has anyone else had this service and was the cost similar?

I have read many stories on this forum about problems with the latest RAV such as water leaks in the passenger footwell, poor starting, gearbox issues, excessive noise, etc.

Can I offer a more positive view of my RAV after 10,000 miles. So far, nothing has gone wrong and I am still averaging 38.4 mpg, both calculated and from the computer display. Let's hope it stays that way.

This is my second RAV, my first was a 3 door NRG and that was also a model of reliability - not a single problem in 36,000 miles over 2 years.

I would also like to say thanks to other forum members. There are some great tips to be found, such as the method of clearing the ice warning messages. I lived with that annoyance for weeks before I found the resolution in these pages. Far better than reading the handbook!

Just had my 10,000 service done, cost £123. (thats on XT4 D4D) so cant see why yours is so much dearer. I rang a couple of main dealers and they were similar so went for the nearest. Rich.

Jeff, is that at Toyota World? Which is where I plan to get mine serviced.

I'm sure when I was looking to buy, the service wasn't that expensive, but I could be wrong. Also, I don't think it was Toyota World that I looked at the service costs.

38.4mpg. I'd be happy with that in my T180, but I can only seem to get around 34mpg at best.

Also, please share the tip about the ice warning.

The quote for servicing was from Toyota World in Tamworth. I will check prices with the dealer in Telford for comparison.

The ice warning messages can be cleared by holding down the right hand button in the speedo display for about two seconds. First, the warning message disappears and then the warning triangle goes out. The same applies for the low fuel warning message and triangle.

Thanks Jeff.

i work within 2 mins walk of Toyota World in Tamworth, but I don't live there. I also have a Toyota garage about 3 miles from my house. When the time comes, I'll check both out for the best price.

The ironic thing for me was that the ice warning wasn't on when I hit ice on Christmas Eve because it had been below 4C when I set off :censor:

I phoned the local Toyota dealer in Telford and got a quote for a 10,000 mile service for my T180 of £116. It pays to shop around.

Wow  looks like I won't be using Toyota World Tamworth after all.

It's a pity, as I said before, it's 2 mins walk from where I work.

As I posted earlier in this thread just had mine done ( 10k service) at Lindops Wrexham cost £123. Checking the washer fluid the other day had a quick look at the air filter. It was full of bits of leaves and other much. The filter was filthy. Checked the service schedule and this should have been checked during the service. I was none to happy and complained to the service manager. Im seeing him tommorow and will update with their response. Not the levele of service i expect from a main dealer. Rich.

Took the car back in today and they went over the service again. Service manager very polite and appologetic. Cleaned out the air filter. New lower glove box door fitted under warranty also as it was sticking. promised 25% off next service. Rich.

I paid up for the service plan on my T180 when I bought it last week.

For the three years (10k, 20k and 30k services), I paid £501.

I was quoted £145 fixed price for the 1st service at 10k and the same again for the 30k, so figured that the 20k was unlikely to cost much less than £210, as I'm told there's more done on this one.

Hope I've not been sold a bum steer!!

I had my T180 serviced at William A Lewis (Toyota Main Dealer), Telford last week. Excellent service, wheels rotated, car feels much livelier and the handbrake is certainly improved. Price charged as quoted £116.87 so it's looking like a bargain compared to some other dealer pricing. Highly recommended!

A valuable tool this web site, i wish i'd posted asking for best prices as i would have had a bit more leverage with the dealership. They've promised me 25% off my next service, but this was only due to poor service the first time. Rich.

Just as a quick question, would you guys consider getting your Rav's serviced by a Toyota Specialist instead of a main dealer cause you can save a packet and not invalidate your warranty:

Service A: £88 inc

Service B: £165 inc

From Toyotech Middlesbrough.

My main dealer is charging £150 & £280

:yahoo:

If the car is under the original manufacturer's 3year warranty then you don't have to have it serviced by a main dealer.

However, the extended warranty that you can renew upto the car's 7th birthday means that your car MUST be serviced by a main dealer.

I actually phoned Toyota GB regarding a warranty problem where the main dealer was being a :censor: and they confirmed that they can't specify who services the car during the original warranty (apparently so long as they're VAT registered and carry out the service to exactly the correct spec as Toyota GB recommend) but as the extended is effectively an insurance policy, they are allowed to dictate who services it.

Personally I would rather trust an independant over a main dealer any day, but they've got you by the wallet!

Phil.

Hi thanks for replying, how much is this renewable warranty per year?

I think the dealer gets a quote on an individual basis. Mine costs £46.49 per month (10x months). So far I've had a new turbo and a new starter - so it's def. paid off having it!

  • 5 months later...

Just done 9500 miles in my T180 now, so thought I'd start looking around for prices. I've rang 3 dealers, and have got 3 very different quotes.

Tamworth (nearest to work) - £181 :o (as mention by Jeff earlier)

Burton-on-Trent (nearesrt to home) - £156

Ilkeston (where i bought from) - £125

Ilkeston is the furthest away from me, but is where i bought my car from. So will probably go with them.

Simon, would love to know how they justify the huge difference in price for the same service. I would have thought it would be a similar price across the board.
