Overheating

Oil in water

Water in oil

Rad bubbling over-Too much pressure in the water system.

White steam out the exhaust

Coolant leaking from gasket area.

Low compression on one or more cylinders.

To name a few. :(

i only get white smoke in the mornin when i first start it, once car has been a run and is idlin, there dont seem to be much comin out, however, when i take the cap off the water bottle, at the end of the hose, there is this sandy looking stuff at the end of the pipe that suns down to the water, what could that be??

im lost with this car right now, im thinking of selin it and gettin another one, whats your thoughts??? if i was to do that, id be wantin another mark gt4 jap import, where do you think i should start looking??? do you recomend a dealer that will get me one from japan???

The white smoke (Actually I meant to say steam :rolleyes: ) first thing could just be build up of condensation, which is quite normal this time of year. As for th edeposits in the water bottle.... More than likely just crud from the water system. :unsure:

Do you have any other symptoms? Rough running. Lumpiness when idling? Drastic water loss? :unsure:

As for finding an importer.... There's one or two down this end of the country. Not sure about up where you are though. The only one that comes to mind is japanese imports direct based in Glasgow. :thumbsup:

when idling it is sometimes rough as in, the revs dip sometimes. but once the engine has heated up or i've been a boost, they stop, then i stop the car, leave it for say half an hour, start it and there back....same senario, go a boost and the stop......does that make sense????

filling the water around every 4-5 days

it is possible but if your not getting any overheating then HG is unlikely

it overheated once, but we thought it was thermostat, cause that was goosed. it was changed, so no over heatin now, i run about with no heaters blowing and it will just kick the fan on and off......make me kinda think its a leaky seal or hose.....i hope

what you think??

yep the st-185 has a few hoses that are prone to leaking (most are a PITA to get at as well), get a cooling system pressure test done that should show up the problem

just back from a wee boost and guess what, the thermostat gauge started to creep up again and the heaters ran a little bit cooler than normal......not good i guess???

what do you guys suggest i do??? i mean i love this car to bits, but i can't fix this stuff myself, i need to rely on other folk, sadly there aint many people around (locally to me) that want to do work on these cars anymore. argh :ffs: :crybaby:
