T-sport Engine Management Issue

Hi all

I'm pretty sure i saw it on this site but cant find it now

My t-sport is suffering from that intermittent headlight light dimming and stereo power fault something that i read was traced to an ECU fault on the 190bhp cars in my particular case it affected the heater as well.

i did return the car to the main dealer and also telling them i had read about this fault, whilst under warranty but they said they could not find a fault and that my information was not to be relied on.

so now im out of warranty and the fault is becoming more frequent and very frustrating how do i remedy this??? is it a case of a new ECU or can it be fixed with a firmware update?

If you have a early T sport (<52) then this is very common problem. The only way is to replace the ECU with a later modified one at a cost of £950.

I had this happen on my T Sport (dimming lights and radio cutting out) after reading a post on the ford St220 site, they had a very similar issue. The cure was to turn down dash board display.

Well mine has not done it in the last 3k miles, could be just one of things. (now I go off and find some wood to touch)...lol

By issuing an updated ECU toyota have admitted a fault. According to the trade of goods act a company is responsible for the replacement of goods in this case not fit for purpose sold for 6 years I believe, try your citizens advice bureau if i'm right in warranty or not they would have to replace the faulty part.

Hope that helps a bit, at worst it isnt fixed at best you save a grand and can buy me a pint.
