Sat Nav 300 Eta

Hi All – I have recently bought an avensis. It comes with a TNS 300 sat nav with ETA. The problem is, it always tells there is no traffic info available on your route and I got stuck for 2 hrs on M40 :D . It always says TMC 0. I get some TMC options but can’t make it get any Traffic info. Am I missing something?

I got the ETA add-on cheaply off eBay for my TNS 200 but had to buy at some expense a self-adhesive aerial which fixes on the inside of the windscreen to which the black connector from the ETA box fixes. It never worked (like yours displaying TMC 0) perhaps because the 'aerial' just seemed to consist of a strip of plastic! I removed it and returned it to the dealer in Dorchester some months ago but am still awaiting a response. In the meantime I bought a powered inside aerial from Halfords for about £10 which I wired into the interior light circuit and connected the ETA aerial wires (after removing the black connector) and it worked fine. Hope my experience might be of some help!

Hi Tim - thanks for your reply. I just found that the aerial cable is not going into the ETA box. It probably has got snapped. Can anyone tell me what the connections would be as it all looks very complicated? Any pictures of the unit whose TMC works would be much appreciated.
