Relocated Apexi

Hi Guys I need some help.

I want to spruce up my relocated apexi with some nice red silicone hoses and disconnect the breather from the intake and give it its own filter. :D

I know a couple of people have relocated their apexi and was just wondering if anyone knew the diameters of a couple of the pipes...

1. & 2. The inlet and the apexi (i think these are different so a reducer should work)

3. The bit that connects to the engine (my guess is 10mm?)

I know I could just measure it but im hoping someone already knows. ;)

Why re-locate it ?

If you want to improve the performance of it add a cold air feed from just under the front bumper.

reducer won't work as they are to long, if you take a look in my garage I have the size of the hose you need. I think it's 60mm off hand, as throttle body is about 55mm and apexi is about 62mm/64mm.

Reducer costs £15 and no point in cutting it down, as then you can't return them if you can't use them. A 60mm hose costs £5, no need to cut it down and it expands enough to fit the apexi.

Buy some decent jubilee clips and they will work fine, and I have had no trouble with mine yet. (whatch something happen soon  )

Just keep an eye on it every now and again, as I do with mine.

Not sure what the size of the other pipe is but it's not 10mm. more like 20mm.

If you get a pipercross crank filter these usually work, but be aware no clips will work on this as the piping on the yaris is very squashy, you may need to tape it on.

Not sure how others have got theirs to fit on.

Just a sugestion but if your connecting two hoses together that are 'squashy' then find some hollow pipe such as copper water pipe and put it inside the smallest hose and you can use a jubilee clip on it.

This works great and i've used it on small racing car radiator systems which run at very high pressures and temperatures with no problems so it will be fine for the breather pipe.

Also removing the breather pipe from the intake is a very good thing!! as it is an oil breather so if any oil, or oil vapours happen to make their way through the pipe then will end up in the engine which means you will have to burn it so you'll loose power etc.

I have mounted my breather filter right on the metal outlet from the top of the engine which i find works better. This means removing that whole pipe so no hassle trying to attach two squashy pipes :P Also it looks swish as just fits in the curved part of the engine cover  Tbh i wouldn't bother with a pipercross one as they're quite pricey and you don't really get a difference between money spent on these! At car shows a breather filter sells for about a fiver!

I really should get around to relocating my Apexi soon but i guess i'll do it when i get the TTE front spoiler on so i can give it a cold air feed at the same time

You got a piccie of where ur breather is mounted woody? What make did you use?

So just to confirm the inlet is 55mm, the apexi is 62-64mm and the breather inlet is

20 mm?

Hiya guys :D

yes i've got a pipercross breather does the job nicely

As for the samco reducer, the way i did it was get 2 bits of samco,

one smaller than the other the smaller one fits inside the larger one,

thus making you a reducer

Its been on for 2 years now and no movement.

hope this pic helps you, as said i'm not sure what size the breather pipe is but off hand i'd say 20mm-22mm

BTW, I now have a braket holding the apexi in place not the cable ties, they were temporary

Personally dont like the pipercross one as its a bit too bling for me :P I got a cheap fake carbon one as it was that or chrome :P I ideally wanted black but it does pretty much look black! I also got one that has similar colour filter to the apexi so it looks like it was all part of one kit. Here are the pictures of where i located it like you asked for tim

I'm pretty sure it was a 12mm one i have. I can check the box sometime. Tbh there are sooo many adapters on that small bit of piping between there and the pipe from Apexi that a filter of most sizes is bound to fit on somewhere! Hope that helps a bit!
