ok so following my breakdown toyota have investigated and found that the head gasket has blown...... something they and local toyota dealers have never seen before (ooohhh i feel so lucky lol) :crybaby:

they did get it running though but it dumped a lot of water but i suppose i should be thankfull that it started.

cant help thinking they muffed up the service

has any one heard of this issue before???

That's really strange for a Toyota mate. At the moment I'm driving an old carina with 280,000.. 52k is just getting warmed up. Most Celicas on this forum would be around the 100k mark I'd say (at a guess). Is it under any warranty??

I feel your pain mate, this is a really horrible thing to have to go through... but look on the bright side, you could always transplant a nice 3SGTE in there!

Been hanging around the toyota forums for about 4 years now and thats including the yank ones and this is the first post I have seen about this.

Well good luck m8, should not be to difficult to sort, but Toyota will shaft you on cost!!

You aren't having much luck with this car are you?? £1500 sounds way over the top for a head gasket.

Small tip for you, it may be worth joining the Toyota Club (I'd suggest going Gold on here for the same effect, but the scheme is currently closed). For Toyota Club, ~£65 gets you RAC membership, and a lot of the dealers recognise membership with good discounts. I got my 60K Service, and front & rear disks & pads down from £1100 to £780 by telling them I was a TOC member! I also got a full valet thrown in for free! It may be a little too late for this fix, but if you get problems in the future, it could well be worth it.
