I own a toyota yaris, but Im about to buy a toyota previa 2001 or 2002. From what i can tell there are different head units. Some with what looks like a standard cd-player (link 1) and some with that toyota-unit, (link 2). Its the same unit that my father has on his RAV4 2001.

What i would like to know is if someone has tried to change the head unit. I want to use the original toyota head unit, but im not sure if its possible to change. There might probably be a problem since the toyota-unit messures outside temperature, and the standard cd-player probably does not.

Hi big-p

We have the head unit in your second link in our 2002 Previa. The outside temperature is shown on the display further down the dashboard under the head unit, so this won't be a problem. However, I haven't tried changing the unit.

Good luck. :)

I understand. But the headunit on top (in link 2) is the one i need. It also shows the temperature, and im afraid that i will have a problem if im gonna post-install it, since the headunit already installed doesnt show temperature. Im afraid the car then dont have a temperature-sensor-cable installed.

Hi, I own the previa like the one in your pictures

I would like to remove the standard headunit (bottom link) and fit an aftermarket unit like in the top link,

I have bought a new surround for the headunit this week but do not know how to get the standard head unit out, can anyone give me any advice, Have you fitted yours yet?

Many Thanks,

Brendan
