Hi Guys, i've sold the Rav today after 11 months, not very impressed with the car as much as i first thought, the suspension is totally unaceptable and mpg is now a misely 27 mpg and thats with only 4500 on the clock and i'm a careful driver! I also took a 10k hit on the car which p----d me off even more, anyway i'd like to wish you all the best and many many miles of happy motoring.

Baz.

Hi Bob, after 7 years with Japenese cars, i have just ordered a Dodge Caliber, delivery aprox 3 weeks.

Went for a test drive today and was very impressed and ordered one on the spot, don' know how it will be but i just fancied a change.

I have had several Lexus's over the the last 6 years and obviously the Rav, but the suspension was so harsh i found i was having to swerve to miss drains and manhole covers which can't be right, also the mpg was dropping all the time so i thought lets change. I must say i think the Rav is a wonderful car and if they could sort the suspension it would be great. I would never take the car off road but as i said to the Toyota Teckie what would the suspension feel like then!!! anyway all the best for the future and thanks for all your input to T.O.C.

Regards Baz

Just had a look on the Dodge website, i hope you were not swayed by the free Binky :lol: .

Nice looking motor and has had allot of recent press, the only thing that goes against it is lack of pedigree in the UK, the Dodge is a new name and has yet to get a few years of selling cars under its belt, but hopefully the dealers and their staff well fall over backward to look after UK customers.....keep us posted on how it goes  .

Good Luck with the new venture! I'm going to sit tight for a bit but I'll go and look at an Outlander when they arrive.

If I have to lose 10k though I'll be sticking to the RAV :P

Dodge have been in the UK for quite a long time, albeit on trucks and fire engines. It always used to amuse me to see the instruction "DODGE" on the front - did they think I was going to stand still and not

The Caliber looks macho but I dread to think what it's fuel consumption will be. One of the drivers for me buying a Rav4 last year, apart from Toyota's reputation for quality (of which I am quite familiar as somebody who has worked in quality management for almost 30 years) was >40mpg.

As an aside, I've had no problem with the suspension on mine. It's not as soft as the Citroen's I drove for many years - but neither do I find it excessively harsh. It seems the right balance for a car combines a high stance and good road holding.

They are quoting 35mpg for the 2.0l petrol auto on there website, but that remains to be seen! also insurance is 2 groups lower than the Rav so it looks good, but we'll have to wait and see. I remember the Rav website saying we should be getting 32mpg for a 2l auto and as of now i'm only getting 27mpg with only 4500 miles on clock. Liked your joke on the DODGE.

I think Autobild was one that tested Outlander, Suzuki, CRV and Rav4, and Rav4 had best petrol mileage.

We have one test petrol model, and I am quite suprised at how good the mileage is, considering how it is driven. Very, very impressed with the mileage, compared to other petrols we have (including Corolla Verso 1.8 petrol)...

p.s. 136hp diesel engine is much better choice... if you do cloth upholstery, it is also more comfortable than petrol cloth...

Picked up my new Honda CRV 2.2 CTDI only done 60 miles. Very quiet and good response from throttle.

I like tailgate and load space layout.

First impressions against the RAV?

Thought about getting the Honda, but didn't lile the interior of the old one, and am not keen on the shape of the new.

Yes, looks more MPV than SUV. Not my choice at all. My next one will be the Mitsi Evolander if it ever sees light of day.

Clare
