Hi there, in the UK they didn't bring out the turbo version of the yaris.

But the new yaris RS is:

1.5litre

150bhp @ 6,000rpm

196Nm torque

The Glanza/GT (old old cars):

1.3Litre

133bhp @ 6400rpm

157Nm torque

New Yaris RS is actually about 105HP. New Yaris T-Sport is about 132HP. The old Vitz RS turbo has similar specs to what you've listed there

Vitz 1.3 with a strap on turbo is gonna get urinated upon by the Glanza's

you are saying that the glanza is faster ???

i've been told that a yaris 1.3 vvti + hks turbo @ 0.5 bars would produce 145 bhp

and a glanza V would produce 115bhp @ 0.45 and 133bhp @ 0.65 bars ?

how come that a glanza is faster because it is lighter ??

145BHP form a 1.3 Yaris running 0.5 bar? Nah, I don't think so. 120HP maybe.

GT-Turbo is faster actually as it's lighter than the glanza (if i'm not mistaken)

I reckon the Yaris turbo will be quicker than the glanza, it's all about the Torque power nowadays :)

And yes the GTs have slightly more chance to be ahead of the glanza because of the weight ratio :)

the 0.4bar producing 145hp gotta be wrong.

I said it was 0.5bar producing 145hp and it is NOT wrong We have seen it to the Dyno sheet

If you believe it or not it's not my problem

Ross we also talk through the Yaris Club forum. The car I am talking about, is the car of the member "Tsir". You can ask him for yourself. I can not understand why the numbers of the bolt-on kits are so low. The HKS kit of YARICWRC I bought for a friend of mine (member name Stefanos) with the addition of Greddy Emanage instead of the HKS piggy back, had 178 bhp at 0,5 bar !

I undestand those numbers are quite impressive but that' is what we saw in more than one dynos. Obviously the possibilities of TOYOTA engines are much higher than we believed !

You undestand of course, that I have no reason to lie about all the above...

can someone tell me the differece betweeen the 0.5 bar of an hks turbo kit and 0.5 bar of Greddy Bolt On Turbo Kit ?? aren't both set at 0.5 bar ?? why the hks power ups the engien to 178 bhp and the greddy just 145 bhp??

It's more then just psi apparently  Apparently it is something to do with CFM which is something i dont fully understand so may be worth looking it up on the net!

it doesnt depend only on the psi ! the flow makes a big difference! if you have a T2 turbo set at 6psi it can flow so much air , if you change it with a T3 turbo and set it at 6psi the boost pressure is still thesame but the flow will be greater as the impeller and housing can swollow and move more air at a time than the smaller housing of the T2 and would require even remapping the ecu! so its same boost+more flow+more fuel = more power

  • 3 months later...

dont spend money on a yaris turbo kit mate...with a glanza engine and spending the same for buying a bolt on turbo for yaris, the glanza engine could produce round 300bhp! glanza engines are very reliable! and they can be tuned very well...believe me from what I saw in 1/4 mile :)

I wouldnt tune a yaris engine (although I wish could tune mine) because in that case I will put a glanza engine instead! and compete with glanzas and Gt's!

like what as been said for the what 2-3k its gonna cot to make a 1.3 2nz-fe turbo u might as well get a glanza or gt-turbo, and very very easily slap on a new turbo + a few other little touches and you'll be pushing 200bhp easy
