Diesel Or Petrol

iam buying a avensis very soon . and what i need to know is should i get a diesal or petrol is there a lot of diffrence with mph. i do use the car a lot. is it worth paying more for a diesel or is the petrol just as good

I have a spreadsheet that calculates different costs based on your annual mileage. If you tell me how many miles you do in town and out of town (or mixed driving) I can plug them in for you.

I have had a 1.8L VVTi petrol Avensis for 5 years and after some test driving and research decided to go diesel. I test drove the new 2L, the old 2L and the 2.2L. In the end I went for a new 2L (three weeks to go before I pick it up ).

As Dunkelmann says you need to consider your annual mileage when deciding if a diesel will be cost effective for you. It's a no-brainer for me as I drive over 40,000 miles per annum.
