Code 52

Am Looking at buying a toyota celica gt4 st185.

Its not in the best of conditions but most of what needs doing i can do myself.

The only thing i am worried about is it will randomly go to limp mode and the engine management light wil come on, the code is CODE 52 and this is the knock sensor.

I have been told sometimes it will do it constantly and others it will go for days without happening at all.

Any ideas upon this and what do you think would need to be done.

last question is, can this repair be done easily?

Hope you can help me out

could be a broken wire/connector on the knock sensor itself or a faulty knock sensor, they are a real pig to get at though (back of the block under the inlet manifold)

took my mate to look @ it today (he knows i little about cars)

It looks as tho he's had an aftermarket knock sensor fitted and because of the size of it he's then had to run his own cable :s

he said its easy to get to if you take of the drivers side wheel.

Any ideas if this is worth me buying or if its goin to cost me a fortune in the long run in terms of getting it repaired
