Hello everyone just joined site and thought i`d let people know whats going on with my t sport compressor?

I`ve had 2 t sports before my compressor (black 51 plate then grey 04 facelift) these 2 cars where great and never had any really problems.

but 2 weeks ago my compressor devolped an arwful rattle from under the car? So i took it to the dealer they had a look and said it was the heat shield bring it back saturday and they would swap on warranty? fine.

When i took it back on that saturday they replaced the shield and said it was fine. Got to the first roundabout out of the dealers and went straight back. Still rattling from some where? They then sent me out with a master technichian  He agreed and wasn`t sure where it was coming from. So they said they needed it for 2 days but had no courtesy car :ffs: . Car went in the following thursday, rang the garage they said still didn`t know ring friday. Rang friday they said they thought it may be the supercharger????? they think quote they may be something rattling inside it? alarm bells ringing yet??? so they gave me a 1 litre yaris OUCH! and said see u tuesday? i asked how much the replacement supercharger was going to be and they said £2500 for the charger plus labour all covered by my warranty of course. They also added they had no knowledge of superchargers so they would just swap it??

So now i`ve got it off my chest has anyone any thoughts ideas or previous experince with similar problem??

Danny :D

will post detials of the out come tomorrow fingers crossed they may have sorted it?

Personally i think the catalitic convertor is damaged and rattling.

just like to add has anyone else noticed that high lifts on the compressor come in at 5200rpm? you can generally feel it if car is fully loaded and struggling?

Thanks for this information.

I rang dealer this morning to tell them what you suggested and they said they would look into it?

dealer called this afternoon and said they needed car untill at least friday now  but also said that toyota had become heavily involved and asked the technician to do a number of things for them. One of them being sending a diffrent oil for the supercharger?(heard rumours original oil being too thick) Yet to find out what eles there doing but i asked for the ecu to be updated with new flash.

will post more on friday?

Just thought i would post an update, toyota still have my car due to the fact the new oil for the supercharger which i have found out that toyota didn`t send any with the new supercharger? Don`t know where the oils is coming from but they have been waiting for it for nearly 2 weeks now.

They still haven`t found the problem yet due to the fact my car is minus a supercharger and is in bits on the workshop floor?

Looks like this may take a while? :ffs:

Got my car back today :yahoo: a month after first reporting it :ffs: .

quite a few issues to report back still waitng for full report back from toyota?

they have replaced the supercharger, heat shield and a section of the exhaust from the cat to the back of the back box.

The rattle has gone now and they told me it was down to the exhaust?

I was given no apology for inconvinence :ffs: and wasn`t offered anything in the way of compensation?

One thing they did tell me is that there was no ecu flash/reset needed for my car due too it being a euro cat 3 model only having one catalitic convertor and was only applicable to later models which are euro cat 4 that have 2 catalitic convertors that are placed just behind the engine?

car is going great now i have got to admit. The supercharger makes a diffrent noise to the old one and i can hear greater induction when first accelerating.

Will post more when toyota come back with full report and hopeful some sort of apology.
