Diesel D4d Tuning

I see that dieseltuningshop in Arbroath is selling some plug and play type units on eBay for around £110 .

Does anyone have any experience with these units please ?

Mine's a 2001 CDX D4D .I'm not really sure what the existing power/torque figures are .

seems dodgy to me being a 'fits all cars' unit. surely the electronics need to be suited.

i had mine chipped although not via this system. mine is an 04 plate so might be different but the chap who fitted mine had to hard wire it into the wiring cluster behind the glove box. other tdi engines such as vw group can have the chips fitted to the diagnostic port but either the d4d cannot be done this way or the chips are of a poor quality that do.

on the plus side the extra 30bhp is great. it makes lots of difference.

Thanks for the link .Nice torque characteristics on this engine .

Hardwiring eh Matty ?Definitely a job for a pro then .

Have you noticed an improvement in fuel consumption ,smoke etc ?What chip are you using ?

i had a dimsport rapid pro.

http://www.dimsport.com/index.htm

it is in italian but you can work it out. gives around 30bhp more.

i seem to get a better mpg of around 3mpg on a clear run. but i get stuck in alot of traffic on the way home from work which means i get bad economy whatever.

they claim if you didnt have smoke before then you wont get if when the chip is fitted. i dont look to be honest. i have noticed that on a cold night and i boot it then you can see the exhaust but you might have been able to anyway.

obviously its no porsche and i dont claim it to be but in comparison to when the chip is switched off - pulling off seems no different than before but after 2000rpm it really kicks in. 50-70 in fifth is most noticeable as it shifts.

to my yearly insurance it added 70 quid which is probably what the new 150 diesel would cost me anyway so i am happy.

your ignorance is bliss i have sold lots of tuning units initially through eBay then through feedback to toyota yaris owners on this site, take a look at the yaris site or ask a question about tuning units on the yaris forum, you should not comment on something you know nothing about ,all commonrail tuning units connect to the commonrail sensor ,my supplier is not the only manufacturer doing plug in units for the d4d engines,my units are the same as all tuning companies they are sensor type specific and can also be adjusted ,yes you are entitled to an opinion but yours is not an educated one.
