hey guys, I picked up my new clutch(made by blueprint?) for the cynos yesterday and I'm looking for a little help. ok I finally got the new clutch kit (made by blueprint?) yesterday. I will (hopefully) have someone helping me fit it, but I would like to research it a bit first so I at least know whats going on. my main problems with this are that there is no haynes manual fr my car, and pretty much no one knows much about them.

what I am after is a pretty basic guide on how to change a hydraulic clutch. as I said I won't be attempting it on my own, but I'd still like to know as much as I can before we tackle it

any ideas?

Its the same procedure as for a mechanical clutch. Basically you need to remove the gearbox to access the clutch. You'll need a clutch centering tool to do it properly.

Bleeding the clutch afterwards may not be needed.

cheers for that, but I'm kind of looking for something a bit more detailed...I've never done anything like this before so I'm looking to learn...

you need to remove the gearbox

jack car up and take both front wheels off. Secure on tall axle stands (or preferably a 2-post lift)

Undo front hub nut and bottom shock bolts out and carefully knock driveshaft out of front hub. Knock the other end out of the gearbox.

remove starter motor, shifter cables and undo clutch slave cylinder from gearbox. Loosen gearbox mounts and gearbox to engine mounting bolts. Using either engine crane, block and tackle or third-man jack secure gearbox safely, then proceed to remove all gearbox fixings, then safely lower gearbox to ground.

Remove clutch cover and clutch disc making note as to which side of the clutch disc is which.. Clean and inspect flywheel for smoothness, face and balance if needed, then mount clutch disc and cover, making sure disc is in same orientation to the one removed from car. Using clutch centering tool to locate clutch disc properly.

Replace clutch release bearing and clean out bellhousing from debris of old clutch. Hoist into position very carefully and slowly engage clutch input shaft into the clutch disc spline - put gearbox mount bolts into position for safety, then start fitting gearbox to engine bolts and carefully and equally start doing them up in stages.

Refit starter motor, refit gearbox cables, refit reversing light wiring, refit clutch slave cylinder.

Torque everything to correct levels, then refit driveshafts into gearbox, driveshafts into hubs, refit suspension and wheels, lower to ground.

Test.

or...

Take it to your local Garage or Mr. Clutch and pay them £ 60 to do it for you.
