Wierd dude...you get your car through acid? :P

Alloy wheel became like this if it was wrong manufactured, nor it's very old. I might say that the alloy wheels that your dealer is selling aren't original, nor they are reconditioned.

You can try writing to Toyota, but I think you won't get anything. At least in my country, 4 sure they won't give you anything (they will say: wrong use of the object) :P

G -they look bad

I see they are not SR wheels either ..... do you have any paper work from when they changed the wheels?

If so it might be worth popping to your local dealership and see what they can do. If they can't offer you a free set maybe you should push for some sort of discount on a new set.

If that fails then give Toyota GB a call and send them that photo and see what happens - and again if they say no see what they can do for you.

If all else fails I guess it's a good excuse for some new rims :yahoo: ;)

As they are out of warranty there's not much point getting in touch with toyota to be honest,

you have 2 ways to go, either get them refurbed usually costs around £40 a wheel

or get yourself new alloys.

Toyota have a major problem with their alloys all of us seem to suffer,

inc lexus folk.

You'd think how much it must cost them replacing alloys under warranty

they would have sorted out the problem by now, but they dont seem to have.

Is it because there only sprayed and aren't powder coated? You could say surely the warranty should cover the new wheels for the alloted time. I would write to toyota if im honest if nothing happens, end of the day they can only say no. Remember though, the sqeeky wheel gets the oil!

aye there off my mams CDX as she has a yaris also, mainly the reason i got one as i knew they were reliable.

the only wheels my mam has seen as bad as this were on another CDX she saw once.

the wheels are now out of warranty by a year so i duno bout toyota but i think its worrying to go throught 2 sets in 7 years!

when my SR alloys are 6 years old and have done 110.000miles n there is not a mark on them (including kerbing :) :yahoo: )

Yeah it does seem there is a problem with toyota alloys, something they want to get fixed if they want to keep new customers happy! iv managed to keep my t sport alloys in good condition, but i do clean the alloys more than i clean the car! i also polish them after cleaning. it seems to do the trick for me

  • 2 weeks later...

use a wheel sealant like poorboy's wheel sealant or chemical guys wheel guard and you will have no bother with this as the product will seal the wheels against corrosive and damaging things such as brake dust and road salt.

also the protective layer the product puts on the wheels is very slick, making it real easy to clean your wheels. Just make sure you apply it regularly. these products wont fix those wheels, but they will prevent corrosion occuring on your new set when you get them.

Hey there, those alloys look REALLY BAD! mine are going that way too but getting new wheels soon so doesn't matter.

i believe toyota have this problem because they don't salt the roads over in japan so they don't apply a protective coating to the wheels like other companies do.

However i am almost certain that if you look after your wheels and wash them regulally with out letting the dirt build up on them, they will stay in much better condition.

i'd suggest getting them refurbed and then wash them regulally.

Brad =)

Yes agree with you chris

i took my alloys off when my car was new, as i had my oz superleggas,

i waxed them supagaurded them and wrapped them in bubble wrap,

they sat in my dry garage for over 2 years.

Then when i got the s15 and the yaris had to go live on the drive instead of

the garage, i sold my ozs and put my standard alloys back on.

They had started to pit and got worse once i started using them on my car.

i had them replaced under warranty.
