hey, does sumone know if you can fit 175/50/15 tyres on to 15" wheels that are 6.5 whatever it is wide.

Was thinkin it mite stop my wheels rubbing on the back and mite generally be better then the 195/45/15 tyres that are on it at the moment.

thanks matty...

175/50x15 tyres will fit onto a 6.5J rim... but this may not solve your problem.

When the narrower tyre is on the rim, the sidewalls will still be in the same place at their widest point, as they have to sit on the bead of the wheel... it will only be narrower from shoulder to shoulder of the tyre, so it would depend exactly which part is rubbing.

The problem could be either or both of two other possibilties...

1. The rims are the wrong offset and are sitting too close to the inner wing/strut.

2. The J size is just a little to wide for the Aygo (other Aygo owners woill confirm if this is the case).

arr ok thanks,

it might be the offset but the shop that i got them from asured me it would fit ok, but they might have been on about the tyres... but still i would of thought they would of checked, tbh honest i didnt even know what offset was untill a few weeks ago.

anyway the rubbing isnt really caused by the wheel arch its caused by a little screw head

does anyone know that this is for and if it can removed?

thanks matty..

changing the width of the tyre wont help as the wheel will still be the same width and the tyre will stretch to the same width. also it wouldnt be good to stretch a 175 tyre over a 195 rim.

have you thought about trying a lower profile like a 45 or 40 or maybe even less? this could help depending on what part of the arch its catching on.

it does have a 45 tyre on it
