Im considering getting one for my mother probably an 04 reg.

Questions.

What is the standard 0-60?

Which model has elec windows and air con?

Im considering fitting a chip, which chip is best, and what mpg, bhp and 0-60 is expected afterward, i want a safe level.

Cheers

Hi there.

I forget the standard 0-60, but its faster than the 1.3 but slightly slower than a standard T-Sport. You have fewer hp, but greater torque than a T-Sport as standard too.

Spec wise it sounds like you should be looking at a T-Spirit, the T3 has electric windows but not aircon.

There's loads of torque as standard, but there's a very good chip available on e-bay just here. I've had it fitted for about 15 to 20 thousand miles with no issues apart from rampant wheelspin in the wet. b1ackb1rd is selling his Yaris D-4D imminently and it may be worth pm-ing him to find out how much he wants for his tuning box.

Hope that helps...

Thanks for that, did you fit the chip yourself?, do you have any before and after figures regarding 0-60 and mpg?

thanks again

Does it in a wopping 13.8 lol

I hate to be pedantic (actually no I love to be) but that figure is for the Verso the normal Yaris D-4D does it in a much smaller 12.5 and I swear mine feels faster than that.

Yeah Adam, I fitted it myself. It really is a 2 minute job - I remove it before servicing for example and that involves swinging into the B&Q car park opposite the dealer, popping the bonnet, undoing 2 plugs and plugging one in. Shutting the bonnet and driving across the road.

Nathan's right. The power delivery makes it feel quicker and you're never left behind by traffic, even as standard. Anyway, 0-60 is pretty meaningless as its 30-70 that matters for overtaking. Put it this way earpl claims that my car was catching his (pre-turbo) on some of the twistier, steeper sections of the 'Ring. That's his claim, not mine btw.

In a couple of months I may be in a position to sell a "Yaris D-4D tuning kit" if you (or anyone else) is interested...

I read the torque and bhp is increased by these boxes, but what about the MPG, does that decrease!?!

cheers

I have read that the boxes improve MPG, however because of the extra power you tend to put your foot down more and lose the extra MPG that you gain ....... I'm sure someone with a box fitted will be along to say if this is true or not

Well..... I've probably lost 1 or 2 mpg but that has far more to do with my propensity to mash the throttle at each and every roundabout than the box itself. There's probably an improvement when you're on the motorway actually.

Btw I say 1 or 2 mpg, but I still average over 55mpg.

Greetings All ... did I hear my name mentioned??

Get a D-4D now ... great performance, great economy (her indoors was getting over 70mpg on her 80 miles daily commute to Cov each day) and when you come to part/ex it for something else you get a REALLY nice deal :)

BTW - I did have a taker for the Tuning Box but he's not replied to PM's nor sent the promised cheque, so if anyone's interested in a Jetex reusable air filter and a used Tuning Box drop me a PM.
