Knocking!

I've got a knocking coming from the front under braking but only when coming to a complete stop. Also happens sometimes on hard acceleration in low gears. Any ideas?

I'm hoping it's not the fig 8's I've read so much about, but the car's a fresh import with 77k on the clock so I guess it's in the post. :(

Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

Could be the pad retaining clip on the wrong way round on the front calipers.

It's the big metal clip that fits over the pad retaining pins on the top of the caliper. it should be fitted so to push the pads to the front of the caliper, if it's on the wrong way round you can get knocking as the pads move backwards and forwards under breaking.

Fig8's normally cause knocking going over large bumps/potholes, also manifests as the car pulling to one side while accelerating hard then the other side when breaking.
